thank you! very glad to have a video on water culture for cymbidiums. I like that method very much, allows lot of air to the roots while ensuring enough water, also easy to give some fertiliser.

+janet lesley Hi Janet! Thank you! I'm so glad you were able to watch it. Do you have any orchids in water culture? I find water culture comes in handy a lot of times with my orchids. Thank you for watching!

Thank you for the videos about this orchid. I am very new to growing orchids, and inherited a BADLY neglected cymbidium that was in far worse shape than yours, with no live roots left at all (N-O-N-E!) and just barely one skinny bulb and a very small scrawny not-matured growth. I followed exactly as you have done, and after 2 months now there are a few new roots about an inch long and a tiny new growth! I'll keep growing it in the vase for now until there are more roots and some more growth, but after that I have no clue what to do or how to get it back into some kind of potted setup. But thank you for this info, and please keep us updated on its progress!! Thanks!

Lorri Froggét Hi! That's awesome! It's so exciting to hear it worked for you! Mine is still in water, I intend to leave it in there until the orchid shows me it's not happy. If you want to pot it back up in some media, I suggest you wait until there's lots of roots and let it adjust slowly. Moving it back to media may cause it to be in shock again just like when it first was placed it water culture. I have put Phals that were rescued using water culture back into bark, but I had to do semi-water culture afterwards so that it would get use to not being soaked 24/7. Good luck

So great I must say. I will try staking it up as you did. The roots are beautiful and healthy. I am encouraged!!!! Thank you. You waited 7 months for that. Now I know how long it might take.

This video is Awe inspiring! I unpotted my cymbidium a couple of days ago and stuck it in water, with the intent to re-pot. After watching this video, I'm going to try my hand at leaving it in FWC and see if it grows better for me. (I've owned the darn thing for 2 years and it's barely grown nor bloomed once).

Thank you SO MUCH for your videos. You saved my one & only Cymidium! She's in her water culture now for about 2 weeks & I can clearly see the difference it's making to her life. You are the BEST! You save lives for a living using youtube as your medium. *Hugz from a Canadian gal. P.S. My Cymidium was a Wal-Mart rescue. I have Never seen her in bloom so someday when she does it will be like a present.

this is 2018 and I have the same problem. I was going to shag n bag it until I watch your video. I had tried to do the part water culture on some of the ones I had but that just killed them. thank you for your video I'm putting it in full water culture as I write I hope I have the same luck as you. Its April just like it was for you when you did it

When my roots get that green alge coating it means they're being choked off. If you take the spray nozzle on your sink and give everything a full power "pressure wash" you'll see growth skyrocket. I promise! I clean my glass clean as well.

Hi, just wondering how your orchid is going. I really like your videos especially the updates. I just tried to repot one of my favourite orchids and found all of its roots rotted. I’m so sad as this particular orchid was quite expensive and so beautiful. Do you still keep yours in full water culture? Do you keep it indoors? Would you repot it in bark now that it has such a great root system? Sorry for all the questions. :) Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am fairly new to growing orchids in water culture and recently purchased a rotted root cymbidium. I searched all over you tube for video and you seem to be the only one who grows in water. And I was so happy because I prefer growing in water. I am curious of how often you are fertilizing or if you have feritlized. Thank you so much for your video. Tonight is my cymbidiums first night with me...She is soaking in water right now. I will take her out and clean again in the morning once more of the medium has been washed out.

Hi! I’m so glad to be of help. We all have to start somewhere. I’ve had many success growing orchids, along with many failures. It’s getting to know your plants with their likes and dislikes. I hope your orchid growing is a success. Thank you for stopping by.

Hi Yenyen! What is your experience with winterizing the cymbidium? Are you able to get flower spikes on these in water culture?

Thanks so much for your video! I have an orchid that I just spotted today whose roots look terrible. But I can't tell if I've underwatered or overwatered. Just a question, if it's a matter of overwatering, as in your case, I can't get my head around how putting them in water solves it? I mean, it's not that I don't believe you.....I can see the marvellous job it's done. So when you put it in water, do you only allow the very bottom roots (or what's left of them) to touch the water? Or do you submerge all the roots leaving only the bulbs above the waterline? Thanks. Also, any hints on how to tell if I'm overwatering or underwatering? Thanks so much. :o)

That is a lot of roots! Are you planing to keep it in water or you're going to pot it up?
@Growinglotsagreens8 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary! For now it's still in water. I may pot them up in bark media in a couple months as an experiment of the effects of switching growing methods. Not sure yet, I'll keep you posted. :)
