When I first moved to NYC and started going out A LOT I would go wherever Junior was playing. If I remember correctly (cuz all the drugs, you know) Junior premiered this at Tunnel. Whenever he played it the crowd would just erupt. I had no idea it was Cyndi Lauper and I thought the woman was saying "green card. you got to get green card". I couldn't understand why she would be saying such a thing and the drugs made it even more perplexing. I love this. Junior is just amazing.

It really doesn’t matter what the hell she was saying (we all know now thx google) because we were all bombing too hard on X anyways. She could have been reading tax policy and we would have all thought she was saying “Cyndi Lauper needs free drugs/dream drums/etc” Junior turned whatever he wanted into a swirling tempest and f’ed with our brains all night into the afternoon and we all still love him for it.

Cyndi should have switched over to house/electronic music after her pop albums didn’t do well in the early 90’s. I guess she kind of did, but I mean like full albums. She has always been too experimental for mainstream so it would have been perfect
