Here's my hand you painted on A circle fades inside a heart Are you expected here You whisper in my ear So I wash my hands 'Till the water burns A circle sits outside a door Are you expected here I whisper in your ear I'm whole I'm open I'm starved I'm broken I'm lost and found I'm an evolutionary sleeper If letting go Means letting be And the truth beyond the mind Is what I need If letting go Means letting be And the truth beyond the mind Is what I see I'm an evolutionary sleeper

The first time I heard this song --- I wept. The first time I heard the new Traced in Air --- I smiled. The first time I ever saw them live, one day after I bought Traced in Air --- I wept again. Since then, I rarely ceased smiling. Cynic --- It's all about cycles, innit? :) Been a fan since that first upward-bending synth-note on Focus... IZ.

im with both you and Madhouse255 in that statement all you find here where i live is a bunch of those people. im a vocalist and you wont believe how many times i have been turned down because im not "brootal" and i actually like to sing. most kids these days just want to listen to what is gonna make them look tough. its hard find good musicians around here with the value for music. its great to see more people with my point of view i thought i was the only one who saw it that way

To me, this song embodies self awareness to maturing. You never really see yourself mature or grow. You spend a majority of your life asleep and work throughout the rest. The truth beyond the mind is yearning for spiritual fulfillment.

two fantastic musicians..I'm a huge fan, and it's good to see them both working together in Cynic. It just shows how every Death lineup was like a "supergroup". Maybe Sean and Paul aren't the most critically acclaimed musicians, but in my mind, they're so freakin' underrated. Awesome song. 5 stars

the vocals are what make Cynic really unique to me, aside from the amazing musicianship. too many go the brutal route and only use growls, and using the robotic, vocoder vox makes it a creepily, atmospherically interesting progressive sound, and more like that wavy going through a dream sequence type experience. its awesome.

What you can argue for, though, is that people who are fairly knowledgable in many *different* types of music (i.e. not genre-specific, not close-minded ), play instruments with a fair amount of skill,have an idea of how to compose songs, etc. will form some form of consensus around what can be considered good music (even then, preference differs a great deal, although much less than with

I love this band. Their songwriting ability and talent is incredible. I got to see them when they were on tour with Meshuggah a couple of years ago, and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. These guys are the physical incarnation of the concept of musical innovation. When I heard Focus it completely changed my ideas of what could be done with music. Honestly, I think Traced in Air is even a little better than Focus. This band rules, period.
@Stardrowner14 жыл бұрын
@Madhouse255 Totally agreed. Devin is one of my idols. I saw BTBAM before I saw them headline with In Flames, 3 Inches Of Blood, and The Faceless. Out of all of them The Faceless (Who were the opening band) were the most impressive but the crowd LOVED BTBAM as did I. I agree though, you can't compare any of them to each other at all. I only heard the last few second of STS but from what I could hear from the outside they were incredible. That concert was just amazing.

@Madhouse255 Same here actually, its just a way of seeing if it is maybe worth listening to later. There are lots of bands I didnt like at first and then gave it a few more listens and grew to like it. Gives you a wider view of music and gives you a larger list to pick from haha.
@miller078615 жыл бұрын
@Madhouse255 I totally agree with ya on that one lol. I used to listen to alot of Cynic when Focus was all they had out and I loved their stuff. But after this newer album I find the songs were put together alot better and everything just flowed perfectly. I listen to these guys, Gordian Knot and Exivious alot cause its all that sort of cool fusion sound to it.

@Aliofdeath i agree. prog metal is like bebop with rock instrumentation. the skill is simply necessary to display the theory of it all.
