Honestly after playing Xiao for so long it’s such a shame they gave him these super cool after image effects on his NA’s only to make him a plunge attack based character. The plunge playstyle is a unique thing so I’ll give him credit there as no one else plays like him.

I can't think of another way to utilize vertical attacks like how Xiao do it, if ever Hoyo devs decided to do another dps that deals plunging attacks that is. So for now, we can settle that Xiao has the most unique damage dealing attacks since, most of our dps release their damage through skills, bursts, NAs, and charged attacks. However, Nilou might be the second one to have a unique kind of damage-dealing attacks since she utilize dendro cores without using any of her skills to spawn them like how Klee and Aloy does it. For some reason, I am imagining Al-Haitham to utilize the burning reaction and somewhat will intensify it like how Nilou intensifies dendro cores.. Again, Al-Haitham might be another unique character that deals damage outside of his skills.

As far as design goes, I prefer Cyno slightly more. The main reason was because growing up, I was always fascinated with Ancient Egypt, so Cyno earns a few brownie points from me. I'll have to wait and see his backstory since we know that he's stern and serious, but Cyno has his moments. Until then, Xiao wins lore wise. I love both of them.

I guess Cyno destroyed my theory polearm theory. Before his release, the only characters that wield polearms with one hand were Adepti affiliated: Zhongli, Xiao, and Shenhe. As someone who trains in martial arts, you need A LOT of strength and dexterity to pull off these moves with an actual spear.

Xiao's fighting style with his pole arm is a lot more swift which is why he has more hits in his moves than Cyno. Cyno, in the other hand, only uses one arm to fight but his swings are power swings which means they hit harder. Xiao's transformation is swift, plain and simple but I kinda wish his mask materializes on his face instead of it suddenly appearing on face for that extra bit of pazzaz. Cyno's transformation is a lot longer but he puts away his spear for a bunch of claws, giving him a whole new moveset. All in all, I want Cyno so I may build the Team Edge Comp. Also, clearly my profile pic says it all.
