Hello comment section, personally I know a better strategy for dealing with the fight after the goo -attack/kill the arachnotron and revnent from the highest platform, they wont be able to hit you and if they do you can just use the armor on that one platform -go down to the platform above where the hell knight is and spray the plasma rifle, it should kill it before it can even attack you -hide behind the wall near the exit and of the fight and wait for the cacodemon to come to you and when it reaches you,sticky bomb-->glory kill go to where the first arachnotron spawns and use blood punch-->grenade-->sticky bombs. that should kill it or pit it into a glory kill state and if it doesint fire more sticky bombs at it finally run away and find a place away from the arachnotron, wait for it to come to you and when it does sticky bomb the turret, use your other sticky bombs on the arachnotron and then use either plasma rifle and your done.

For anyone that wants the easiest, most consistent way to bypass the first tentacles: jump, dash, jump, dash at the edge of the goo pool in that order. You can make it up to the ledge pretty easily as long as you don't mess up the order of jumps and dashes.

In the cave with the fist goo, you can directly jump to the mod upgrade, avoiding all the tentacles. Just perform a jump as early as possible without hitting the ceiling, then dash, jump, dash, grab the ledge. May take a few tries until you get used to it.

Another just as effective way is (utilizing air control) Jumping -> Dashing twice -> Jump + Turn right and grab onto a wall

After opening the 3 doors, you can easily shoot the arachnatron's and the revenant's weak spots from above (so don't jump into the pit directly). When giving the revenant a few sniper head shots, he will falter and you can directly jump on him and perform a glory kill.

for me this and hell on earth is more about chainsaw usage. its honestly not that bad. im still stuck on cultist base. mainly the intro to the whiplash, the one with the manculus, caco, aracnotron, then the hell knight, whiplash, revanants, and mancubus. and the pit. and the final battle. cultist base is the ultimate wall in UN. once u beat it, u beat un pretty much

Hell On Earth is a breeze after you beat a few times. Knowing the spawns helps and what fights you can skip as well. Cultist Base is still my biggest fear. I lose most my lives on that level on Nightmare haha.

Freeze the first whiplash, should be easy to kill then. After this, you can climb into the hall with the swinging baldes (while killing shield soldiers with plasma), and all the enemies will follow you. Fighting in the long corridor with the option of using the swinging blades makes the fight a lot easier.

Pro Tip: The FIRST secret encounter features taking out two Caca's who spawn on the other side of the stage where you started. Usually, you monkey bar over to them. However, recently they got "buffed" and being anywhere near them is dangerous while in the air. If you walk off the back area, Slayer will fall and reset position to the very beginning area. Doing this as the encounter starts puts you behind both demons with time to grenade both and distance to glorykill both without them even knowing wtf happened. Note: This is a speedrun strat for 100% runs. As of recent patches in an effort to prepare for "invasion" many speedrun strats are being patched out. As such, I recommend going over and trying this on a normal run to see if the position reset still works, along with getting used to where the demon's spawn, then doing it.

I have no clue if anyone has said this but this is a semi-speedrun tactic: if you're good enough you can outright dodge the first hell knight and go straight to the elevator, so long as you practice it and get it down you shouldn't take any damage, first time I tried it I took no damage, hope this helps

your strat for staying on high ground near jump pads at 12:25 really helped me out. I leave the 1st arachnotron wounded but alive and jump to get the chainsaw gas (to give me 3/3), then kill the arachno while heading to that back corner with jump pad and wait for dreadknight /caco to come find me. The freedom to move from high / low in that area really helps negate how the fodder can track you and pin you down.

15:10 actually if you wanna make this even easier you can just shoot all your ammo into the spider with the precision bolt wich will leave you with 12 or so ammo but don’t worry as there are two ammo pick ups down below so being cost efficient with this guy isn’t important

I do the Slayer Gate on this level because I want those early weapon points to invest most of them into the SSG in Cultist Base. I hope in the future you upload a video of getting through UN and doing all of the Slayer Gates as well. I'm sharing some tips for the Exultia Slayer Gate, just in case anyone needs some help. Before talking about the actual Slayer Gate, let me share what my Runes, Sentinel Crystals, and weapon mods look like. Sentinel Crystals: -For the one obtained in Fortress of Doom, I always invest in health under Quickdraw Belch. -For the one obtained in the purple goo, I invest in armor under Quickdraw Belch, obtaining that perk. Rune: -Air Control. Weapons Mods: -Combat Shotgun: Full Auto & Sticky Bombs -Heavy Cannon: Micro Missiles -Plasma Rifle: Heat Blast Weapon Points: -Used on both upgrades for the sticky bombs on the combat shotgun, and reload decrease on micro missiles for the heavy cannon (the one that costs 1 point). Moving onto the Slayer Gate per se, I ALWAYS go in with 3 fuel charges for the chainsaw. This helps A LOT. I manage my fuel reserves by only using the chainsaw in arenas where there's a fuel canister, and only using it on a fodder demon. This means that throughout the entire level, I don't chainsaw any heavy-class enemies. The Slayer Gate starts with a fuck ton of imps and gargoyles. Stick to the fundamentals. By that, I mean use your flame belch and grenade on a group of enemies. The micro missiles and heat blast are extremely handy. Light a group of demons on fire, and if you have a fully charged heat blast, use it to instantly delete enemies and create a massive pool of armor. What's important to keep in mind is that there's 1 fuel canister for the chainsaw in the Slayer Gate, so after killing the majority of the imps and gargoyles, chainsaw one of the rest to restock on ammo. Then, grab the extra fuel canister. Do not use the chainsaw until the next wave triggers. After the majority of the fodder enemies are killed, 2 dread knights and several revenants will spawn. (I say "several" because I don't know the exact number; last time I counted, there were 5 of them). Keep in mind that both dread knights don't spawn simultaneously: the other one spawns after the first one is killed. Immediately use the fully gassed chainsaw on either one of the revenants or the dread knight. In my case, I always use it on the first dread knight, since he can go fuck himself. The revenants aren't that much of a threat if you eliminate their rockets and keep your distance. The dread knights, however... That bastard's movement is so fast and erratic: he can leap toward you and do his insanely powerful ground-slam with an AOE attack. Getting back to the point, find the first dread knight and immediately take him down via chainsaw. After that, I focus on taking down the revenants' rockets, but mostly move around the arena trying to evade all incoming demons or attacks. I do this until I locate the second dread knight. Once I do, I take down some rockets on the revenants, or I go for the dread knight, depending on which one is closer. Always move around the arena, occasionally shooting for the dread knight, then move again, and repeat until he's killed. Once he's killed all that's left are rocket-less revenants (which at that point are just walking skeletons) and fodder demon. So, shoot until everything is killed. This tip got longer than I expected, but I hope it helps! :)

For the fight at 9:30 you can snip the reverent and aracnatrom to death from above if your calculations to dodge their projectiles Hit their weak spots and then you just shoot them and they won't even try to dodge Makes it a bit easier

I have officially found 2 undisputedly easier (but extremely cheesy) ways to beat a couple of parts of this. Starting with when you first enter hell, kill the rev but don’t spawn the hellknight yet , then if you run up to where the big armor pick up is and jump toward where the HK spawns but then jump back....he won’t be able to attack you. But the next two are even worse (better) at the start of the pit if you have precision bolt, before you jump down you can wait for the spider to walk down the stairs and literally kill him with the PB and he can’t do anything. You’ll always be able to get at least one or two shots off at the rev. Finally leaving the betrayer’s house you come to that lone spider. You can use the PB to quickly shoot his cannon off and from there he can do nothing while you stand there and finish him with him with PB. Ps: you can basically do the same trick at the end of hell on earth

One thing I did not try before and I think is not discussed more is getting heat blast for the plasma gun and using your weapon points toward early mastery of it. Utilizing the slayer gate and the Ripatorium to get near halfway to mastery sets you up for the Doom Hunter fight; along with flaming meathook giving you a much easier time.

Despite the Slayer Gate being a pain in the ass (especially this early on in the game with the limited arsenal you have) I think it’s worth doing this one. How I go about it is I first make sure I use my Weapon Points on the Plasma Rifle’s Heat Wave just to get it out of the way. I take advantage it by doing part of it’s Mastery Challenge during the Slayer Gate since it mostly consists of Imps and Gargoyles minus the two Dread Knights and 3 or 4 Revenants. You could farm the fodder enemies for the Heat Wave Mastery if you want and as long as you are careful. You don’t have to unlock the Mastery all the way through though, but at least getting some of the kills done in the Slayer Gates will get you off to a good start since I have about 16-20 kills out of 30 by the time I hit Cultist Base (that’s also including the Ripatorium which you can also get some kills off of for your Heat Wave Mastery). After that, I start saving up all my Weapon Points up until you get the Super Shotgun in Cultist Base. Assuming you did the first Slayer Gate and Cultist Base’s Mission Challenges, you should have about 9 Weapon Points when you get to the part where you get your Super Shotgun that I highly recommend you use all 9 points on and start unlocking the Flame Meat Hook Mastery right away, which will definitely come in handy and I rely on it a lot. You can definitely unlock the Flame Meat Hook Mastery in Cultist Base if you pretty much kill every enemy going forward with the Super Shotgun.

a single precision bolt shot kills tentacles, and considering you dont need to actually aim down the scope to fire a precision bolt, the animation just needs to start, you can just continue walking without stopping around tentacles

On the first big arena (the one with the lava fall) I like to stand at the top with the precision bolt and take out the arachnotron's turret before I jump down. Usually while I fall I hit him with a couple sticky bombs or some plasma.

Before I fight the second hell knight I just sticky bomb or sniper shoot the two soldiers down there that way it's just you and the hellknight. Throw a grenade right as he spawns and shoot some sticky bombs then shoot a whole volley of micromissiles and that should take care of it. For the first tentacle portion you if you're agile you can dash twice onto the elevated platform where the climbable wall is at. If you want to get the map layout there is a tentacle there too so to not get stuck in the goo I jump then dash forward activating the tentacle to appear then sticky bomb it while dashing back so I don't get hit by it.

I did not know about that Supercharge. That's going to be extremely helpful for when I inevitably have to start my UN run over also, not entirely sure on how useful this is, but there's a platform with +50 armor, shells and bullets, after which you'll be fighting two gargoyles. If you pick up that +50 armor, two Cacodemons will spawn in, but only then! So if that Arachnotron hurt you badly and the two zombies aren't enough to replenish your health and armor, go and pick up that aforementioned Supercharge before moving on to the falling platform bit. It's definitely going to help you out, cuz one Cacodemon on Nightmare is bad enough, but two at the same time is so much worse. Can't wait for the Cultist Base walkthrough! Been practicing that mission for almost a month. I wanted to do it today, but then I remembered I still wasn't able to do it on regular Nightmare without dying once.

for the first optional encounter this the two cacos just into the void after activating the gore nest. You will respawn right behind them for an easier time sticky bombing them (I put them both in stagger state before attempting glory kills)

The pure goo with the arachnotron I have found a skip for but it's very hard to execute. If you jump, dash, jump, dash from the spot to the left of the goo you can make it up to the ledge on the right by maneuvering around the bones sticking out of it. What makes it so hard is that you can't grapple the ledge. You have to have the absolute maximum height you can get right when you touch the side of the ledge. If done right the game will kind of push you that last little bit up onto the ledge. I've only done it once.

Exultia Ultra-Nightmare Personal difficulty: 7/10 If you continue, you will bring down more than just the heaven's wrath One level down, 12 to go. Going to Exultia to track down the Hell Priests. It may be where Slayer was raised as a warrior, but it's not a cakewalk. The problem boils down to the introduction of two annoying early game demons: Hell Knights and Gargoyles. They suck. More instances of Full Auto being useful. As for my first Rune, I go for Air Control. I need midair mobility to stay alive. I tried Punch and Reave, but it never worked. And I prioritized my Sentinel Crystals for health, armor, and the Flame Belch. If the Chainsaw auto refills, no need to expand my ammo count until later. The confined area with the water isn't too bad the first wave, but after getting the dash, it's brutal. And I went for very few Secret Encounters and none of the Slayer Gates. Upon getting the Plasma Rifle, I always get Heat Blast first. Let's be real, Microwave Beam is not all that great. I prefer blasts of massive damage. My first Sentinel upgrade was Quickdraw Belch. Burning demons for armor is paramount. And the gooey arena that people hate? You can dash to the platform and then jump and dash to safety before the Cacodemon has lunch. The last arena is just a game of patience. Keep calm, don't stop moving, keep shooting, and you'll be okay. I even did it without Onslaught. As for upgrading weapons, I upgraded the Sticky Bombs for bigger blasts, and Heat Blast for being able to fire right after the blast. In conclusion: You're getting stronger and further, but the game isn't getting merciful. The worst is yet to come, but the game still wants you to suffer. Carrying on will only make the burden of losing you carry worse.

Maybe. Might be something to look into but just don't use much if the plasma rifle beyond maybe some crowd control or finishing a revenant or hellknight for a glory kill

Quad sticky bombs might actually do amazing burst damage for heavy enemies now that I think about it. But I always use plasma rifle for quad damage too...that sound is just so satisfying >:)

You can skip the tentacles in it if you dash under the hanging bodies and double jump to the ledge, a lot of speed runners do it and it saves you a lot of pain once you do it consistently

I actually do play with mouse and keyboard, and it took me a while, but yes I actually did get through Ultra Nightmare and wanted to share a helpful tip I learned. Listen I finally made it through hell on earth and made it to the fortress and followed your instructions on the crystal but when I exited to the main menu it would save my progress on ultra nightmare it says it won’t save unless I complete a mission I just don’t think ultra nightmare is worth it for the gold skins since I’ve already died multiple times
