That happens with my family with the people they bring around us all the time. We are Black Dominicans living in Spain and Spanish people don't really use formal speech like that. Addressing somebody in a respectful way make Spaniards uncomfortable because they think you are calling them old. But my family is from the Caribbean, you'd better address the elders correctly. Every time I'd bring a friend home, I would remind them not to call the elders by their first name 🤣🤣🤣

"I just want you to be happy" is the worst advice parents give. They should say, "I just want ypu to maintain your honor and integrity and sometimes doing the right thing is difficult and makes you unhappy and that's life, but honornand integrity is all the matters at the end of your life" and happiness is a fleeting feeling and an excuse thst allows for a lot of wretched behavior. So NO, do NOT tell your children you just "want them to be happy"
