There are many all-in-one systems for under £500, from the likes of Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, NAD, etc.. What is available for those looking to upgrade? Maybe a Naim Uniti Atom or a NAD M10 is a bit of a stretch at circa £2k. One option would be the Cyrus One Cast at £1,299. It is a streaming amplifier with built-in DAC, phono stage and headphone amplifier. Let's take a closer look.

Nice to see a Cyrus under review, I’ve spent many years building up a Cyrus system preferring to go for a single box approach which has served me well. Like most systems it comes alive once driven but a good signal source. Thank you for posting 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I do appreciate you opening the reviewed product up and giving us 'gut shots'. So nice to see high quality assembly, circuit boards & components one hopes for at this price. So often the internals are a hot mess from a Chinese dissident with a glue gun. It's a nice small package & footprint, I can see this appealing to the modern consumer. Kudos for keeping it small, not pumping it up in an oversize case to try and impress. Class D has legit sound, I'm using a tiny Chinese eBay unit for our TV driving Polk towers, run off a laptop pwr supply and the results are very impressive.

Thanks for another great review Tarun. Back in my student days my brothers and I chipped in to get a separates system. We came across a used Cyrus One and paired them with Mission 731 speakers. We were shocked how a 25 WPC amp could get so loud and how well the combination was. Moving from a Panasonic midi system to separates was an eye opener.

Hi Taran bless you for yet another review of a new peace of equipment , which to me falls a bit short of my expectations . Yes it does a considerably amount of things but . And indeed but is the operative word , is this the end game for hifi . I am a product of the 1950 s and entered into the world of hifi in the early 1970s . I like many of my generation we where consumed by the sound and performance of the equipment available at that time . But quite rightly things have moved on , is this the time for me and fellow enthusiasts to take a back seat and go with the flow . Just out of interest I intended to replace my somewhat aged amp with a basic new no frills amp , because in my mind that ultimately is what it’s all about . The sound and nothing but the sound . But my I take this opportunity to give you the credit you richly deserve , you are a guiding light to those who follow your channel . And I recommend your wisdom to all that discover your informative channel . My best wishes to you and your many followers kind regards From me 😃👍

Another interesting review. Well done. I do have a question about the setup. How did you connect the devices to your AC? Is everything on the infamous British "domestic ring" or do you have one or more dedicated spurs from your AC grid entry-point? Do you use some form of AC filtering or treatment? The reason I ask is simple. Take a power amplifier as example, it basically turns AC into something that electrical engineers call DC (but isn't) and this can be done with simple filtering. That power goes to the speakers - and somewhere in that path, the power is modulated into audio by a control signal from a source. And each component actually works this way. I have been surprised by the effect of AC treatment in the past and became aware how bad the AC stages of very high end components could actually be. As to audiophile reference content - for female voice, you might try Emma Kirkby; her voice is so pure that it easily signals red flags to the listener when a component is less than ideal (she's a soprano, so you'll need other content for the lower register of course, you know that). Note that "less ideal" may be the consequence of reflected sound in your room mixing with direct from speaker sound. I know you have treated acoustics in the past, not sure anymore about AC, but, imagine in your next video in the "Setup & partnering equipment" you could have a diagram of the system you discuss including its AC side setup and another diagram illustrating the acoustic setup - while you voice over it.
@abritishaudiophile7314

Thanks JP. I don’t use a dedicated spur but had an electrician test the grounding at it is very good. I Sue a parallel main conditioner to filter the noise coming of the socket and then a passive filter on a power strip to further reduce noise on the source components. Thank you for the suggestions . I will check out Emma Kirkby 😊👍

Good review. I find it a bit strange that some of the Hegel products is priced differently in different countries, I bought my h190 at price of €2800. Witch is not that crazy for what kind of performance you get, nad m10 was more expensive at €3000, i i think between those 2 the hegel is the better amp, more power, larger soundstage, more depth in the bass, and i also find more details, But since then the h190 has jumped to €3300, i was lucky to buy it at the right time and saved me €500, it would be intresting to see you review some more Hegel products like the h190 or 390 to see what you think, 390 is to expensive for me however, onther amp i really like is the denon pma2500ne, thanks again for all the great videos

Interesting Tarun, about the changes in speaker impedances across the frequency range can have an affect on how the amp works with these type of speakers. I guess it's best, if you can find, a speaker with a minimum or well behaved impedance curve than a speaker whose impedance curve is all over the place, or have a quality amp that doesn't mind crazy impedance curves?
@abritishaudiophile7314

Great review, Tarun. I know it's not what you set out to do, but how would a Bluesound Node 2i plus your favourite £1,000 integrated amp compare do you think? I declare an interested here. I'm about to venture forth into the world of streaming on my main system for the first time and my choice will be the all conquering Node 2i. I've been using Tidal on my phone to sample music before buying CDs, however, my wife is interested in some Internet radio stations, so it's time to bite the bullet. At some point I'll add a Denafrips Aries II dedicated DAC, as I really want to try the R2R ladder system, being a sucker for individual components inside my gear. I also recognise that some artists will eventually abandon the CD format altogether, so it needs to match or better my CD player. Cheers.

Totally agree that many hifi setups are relegated to spare bedrooms , the basement, etc. meaning they’re often far from the nearest wifi source. This is why this device is a failure. I ‘could’ simply plug in an ethernet cable (via COA or powerline) and be on my way but that’s not the case because the clowns at Cyrus decided to emulate Apple with the ‘courage’ to remove the ethernet port.
