I will start off by saying, that was a great comparison and I appreciate what you do. Feeling pretty good about my Peachtree Nova 150 at this point, considering I bought it for about half of retail, with an audioquest power cord, and 13 months left on the warranty. Hey Jason, I was the gentleman that has some similar likes with the Unico, Ascend and Zu speakers. A buddy of mine recently got some Zu omens. I haven't got to listen to them yet but he said the Zu's just sounded like music for people that love music. He said his larger room did benefit the Zu's greatly. He used audio research tube amp and audio research tube preamp.Keep me posted on the Zu's when you get the larger room. If you like them you may love them in the bigger room . Thanks

Great review Jason! The feature that I’ve single-handedly been most interested in with the Cyrus ONE range is that speaker impedance detection (SID). I may be wrong, but SID seems unique, which in itself should be applauded, but it’s great to know that it actually appears to work well! I salute you for covering the SID feature so purposefully 👌 Cyrus have always had a reputation here in the UK for their ‘love it or hate it’ sound signature and that deep chassis. I must admit I’ve always found myself on the ‘hate it’ side because that very deep chassis plus the increase in depth when cables are plugged into the back means it doesn’t always fit into standard equipment racks or into already tight spaces and it’s something all the good folks should be aware of. That said, it’s good to know it sounds great (and better than the Naim 5si 😆). Great work as always 👍
@2ChannelListening

Was I too enthusiastic to throw the 5SI under the bus? Lol - calling it like I hear it. I'm open to demoing a XS3, but I sure ain't paying for one near retail. I appreciate your nice compliments RR. I like the thought process and engineering direction Cyrus is going in, save for the lame remote situation. It's a brand I will revisit in the future when I can score a classic line unit. Thanks again!

@@2ChannelListening haha going by how many used Naim 5si’s are up for sale, I’d say there are others feeling somewhat underwhelmed. It’s a shame that Naim abandoned their initial house sound especially on their more entry level gear. Naim have great pedigree and their previous chassis integrated amps were highly engaging. I currently own an Exposure 3010s2d. For years Exposure and Naim have been mentioned in the same breath, but Exposure go about making their highly enthralling gear (relatively) quietly and ‘til today Exposure have kept to their simple design principle, which is to make equipment that sounds as close to a live performance as possible. Recently Exposure made the XM5 integrated, an entry level half-width chassis design. If you can get your hands on one at a good price I’d recommend checking out the XM5. I’ve not heard it, but I’m confident it will have the same Exposure house sound that my 3010s2d has, but at a friendlier price!

@@2ChannelListening great comparison, and good background of Mission Cyrus. Mission/Cyrus made some very innovative products back in the early 90s. I still have the Mission Cyrus 782 sealed box speakers. I had the Mission Cyrus 1 original amplifier for a long time, it was very good. I would say a little on the lean side, but fantastic at placement. I would easily be able to identify the singer in the centre and locate each instrument. Regret selling it, but I got a very good price for it. Now I am going full circle as I am looking for a small footprint amplifier for bedroom system, mainly considering Cyrus One, Rega Brio and maybe NAD M10 (but that would be beyond my budget)

You do a great job showing the history and product knowledge. The Peachtree Nova150 will make setup very easy and is great for simple operation with above average sound. The DAC to me is below average. People must take this hobby with love and care. Just get what sounds good to you, specifications never really matter for the preowned lovers of audio. I am so sorry to say that it's not for me. Just stay with your nova 150 and enjoy. Maybe audition some Topping Audio if I may. The Price can be nice for those who have to have things new only and can save money. I do have a Topping TP60 and it's my nova 150 if you know what I mean. Sound is in the ear of the beholder.

I fully understand what you mean John. In the future, I will build up to a higher level dac/integrated combo, going the 2nd hand route (as my second rig). I just picked up a Yamaha CD-S2100 for an absolutely could not pass up price. I'm waiting to borrow a friends Marantz MA11 so I can make a video comparison. If the Yammy does what I hope it does, bye bye ND8006. As for these +/- $1,500 integrated amps, they are wholly fulfilling 90% of the time. The DAC can take things to the next level. Thank you for your contributions!

The Music Room (Email Ben) - tmraudio.com/ Stainless Door Stoppers for Damping - amzn.to/2PyrMaK Hey Bill, I've personally owned over 45 pairs of speakers and sampled at least as many. It is very difficult to say what you would like, what you have access to and the crazy inflation on vintage prices. For $1600 or less, you simply cannot beat a very nice pair of ADS L1590's or Acoustic Research AR9ls (or lsi). Nothing in this price range will touch the full range either speaker can provide. I love my Tekton Uruz, but its better at a little smaller venue. Nothing you can buy new from a retail shop will come close to competing at these prices. Above $2,500; Maggie 3.6R or Martin Logan Montis will give you that next level holography and timbral detail. If space is tight, try out Philharmonic. Hope this helps.

An excellent very candid sonic review of the Peachtree Audio 150 vs the Cyrus One HD! I have just purchased a Cyrus ONE integrated amp the entry level model of the 3 Cyrus ONE integrated amplifiers! I have a pair of Elac DBR62 bookshelf speakers that have an efficiency rating of 87db which as you well know makes them somewhat inefficient and sorta of power hungry! There is a Peachtree 150 at "the music room" as we speak with the same colored fax wood grain that yours has! Should I seriously consider the Peachtree Audio 150 over the Cyrus One HD due to its slightly better performance with the lower efficiency Elac DBR62 speakers I have? My only concern is that since the Peachtree Audio 150 integrated amp is used and will only have the 45 day warranty and the Cyrus ONE Integrated amp is an open box 📦 return from a customer with the full 2 year warranty on it! I subscribed to your KZbin channel and look forward to checking your videos and your newer ones out! You are very detailed and very articulate in your descriptions and don't go over board on analytical hi-fi jargon that way to many audiophile reviewers get caught up in! I'm going to need to make a decision by no later than Tuesday or Wednesday next week on whether I go with the Peachtree Audio 150 over the Cyrus One which does have the cool but small credit card sized remote co tool included with it! I have to say the Peachtree is a really good looking integrated amp but I have a tendency to love utilitarian styled amps like the Adcom GFA-545 which I have one that is dead mint condition but needs to have all the capacitors replaced in it due to it being 32 years old! I also have the Adcom 555-GFP preamp that also needs to have the capacitors replaced in it that is also in dead mint condition! Hope to hear back from you soon! Mac Baker

Well hello there Mr. Baker. I hope to shed a bit of good news and light on your situation. The most important few considerations before pitching your Cyrus, which I take it you really like it. The listening distance you have from your Elacs to your ears? 9ft or less? How about your preferred loudness levels? Mostly light, moderate or Tinnitus inducing? The formulas for working out how much power you need with a bit of headroom can be worked out on this handy calculator: www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-efficiency.htm Go down to the Loudspeaker: Sound pressure and amplifier power section and put in how much power your Cyrus has and your efficiency rating for your Elac, and your listening distance. You get a total approximate max SPL possible. If you need over 100 db, you may need the Peachtree, but I doubt it. Hope this helps! Thank you for watching and subscribing! Cheers sir.

@@2ChannelListening I am sitting about 6 feet from my speakers and my room is about 12 x 10 and I listen to my music moderately loud but when I play my guitar over my blues, blues rock and jazz fusion I will play the amp a little louder! I am actually trading a Denon pma-600ne Integrated amp that is rated at 45 watts into 8 ohms and 70 watts i to 4 ohms,and it drove the Elac DBR62's quite well but you can tell easily that the Elac's are going to really wake up with a 100 watt class D amp with a beefy toroidal transformer like the Cyrus ONE has! I will use the formula you gave me and see what it comes up with! I can't imagine wanting to play at a higher spl level than 100 db's in the room size that my amp and speakers are in! I reached out to Cyrus and asked them what the actual power output would be with the Cyrus One driving a speaker with a 6-ohm impedance and they responded that it was 124 watts! I liked getting that feedback and info direct from Cyrus!
@macbaker2211

Inserting 124 watts into each speaker increases the SPL level to 104.94! I don't think i need anymore power than the Cyrus One delivers! If I stick to my gut feeling a d stay with the Cyrus ONE amp what would a great choice be in a separate DAC to add to the Cyrus One since it doesn't have an internal dedicated l DAC! Hi Paull, I have no experience with either one. If I were to pick one to buy next for demo, I would choose the Audiolab simply based on its shared architecture with Quad products. It is UGLY!!! It could be the best sounding amplifier on this planet but it is U-G-L-Y !! Hi-fi manufacturers MUST return to build BEAUTIFUL equipment as it was normal in the 70's....this is an UGLY box even without a proper remote.
