Thank you, just bought brand new CZ 457 Varmint, broke the arm trying to take off the knob, so I needed this video to see how to fix. Thanks

It was at 5:03 when you presented the bolt in your open hand, I knew what was wrong with mine. I was preparing to sight in my CZ457 17HMR and took out the bolt to run a bore snake through it; however, minutes later I was unable to reinsert the bolt. Thinking it was something simple I was missing, I found your video and realized the bolt was in the decocted position once I removed it. Thanks to a still shot of the bolt, I could tell I needed to depress the spring to bring the bolt back to a cocked position....problem solved. Thanks

If you do the work inside a 1 or 2 gal clear plastic bag, you won't lose the extractor spring if it launches. (Replacement extractor springs have been out of stock at cz for over a year now. ). If you lose that spring your gun is DOA. Ask me how I know.

I also experienced the right and left extractor pin issues of stove piping if installed with switched sides. Thanks

Excellent video! I just bought a CZ 457 American and would like to know where to get the shim that you mentioned in your video?
@kurtthegunsmith8 ай бұрын
Search Trigger shims and you should find the right place! Posting links on here gets my page spammed up. If you can't find it feel free to email me.

I've not heard of putting shims in the bolt before. Are there any other resources I can look at to learn more?
@RoosterGardens Жыл бұрын
Google CZ 457 headspace. That's what these shims are for, adjusting your headspace, which can improve accuracy. After checking your headspace, you can add shims to the bolt, or better yet, the barrel to adjust your headspace.

I've seen the bolt taken down to install the shim(s) by just removing the extractor and ejector hooks after removing the circlip. There was no need to remove the springs from the other end.

Is it possible to remove the firing pin and reassemble without it to practice dry firing?
@kurtthegunsmith Жыл бұрын
Not on this model. The override trigger design doesn't work without the firing pin. However, in the CZ manual, they state that this model is highly resistant to dry firing, which pretty much means you are good to go. The design of the firing pin won't hurt the chamber when dry firing like most models will. Hope that helps.

Hey, just FYI - My 452 Varmint has had thousands and I do mean thousands of rounds through it. I never counted the shots so pretty much every 6th pull of the trigger was a dry fire, LOL. Have had the gun since new, 15-16 years and it works like the day I bought it. CZ's are built like tanks. Cheers...

@@kurtthegunsmith - What if you change out the .22 barrel for the .17HMR or .22WMR, what about the headspace then? I just bought the 457 Varmint along with all three barrels. Thanks...Cheers.

KTG I have a457 in 17hmr I cant get the rear cocking cap to depress so i can remove the pin to disassemble the bolt after de cocking it what can I do ? pls help Matt
@kurtthegunsmith Жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% sure without looking at it. It only depresses a small amount to free up the pin.
