Accurate bdc review on center point scopes (4-16x44) are $75 would you please? I got a 300mag I'm getting on layaway for next year with that scope. I'll pay it on PayPal or buy an send if you send me an address, I can only do around $25 a month but that means I can make it just a bit lean and I want to see it tested on both mags and regs(400-06 an300mag) from 100-600 yards as the direction say with both 150&165 grain ammo in both guns. Swm may work

That's a nice setup. I'm from Hawaii and I hunt with 22 mag. A well place head shot at 50 yards brings home the hogs.

I'm a big fan of the CZ rifles. As far as scope height, I wouldn't say it's fudd lore. The purpose of lowering the scope is to help get a consistent cheek weld. An adjustable comb or changing the scope height will both affect this. So long as you are getting the proper cheek weld it doesn't matter how high or low the scope is. Obviously you aren't having any issues.

Far as I know it's about decreasing over bore height which gives you a better max pbz range. 22wmr is ideal for what it's meant for, 25 to 100yd same zero give or take a half moa.

Well said. It also has an effect on your max point blank range trajectory. By raising the scope an inch higher it takes almost another 10 yds before the squirrel head is in the trajectory. For target shooting it doesn’t matter for a hunting rifle especially on small targets it will be more noticeable.

I've got 457 American with longer non varmint barrel. Warne rail, Vortex rings and Athlon NEOS 4-12 scope. Shoots 1" groups at 100 yards with Rem, Win, Hornady ammo. Love it.

I just got my cz 457 Varmint in 22wmr last week. I sighted it in with a vortex diamondback 4-16x44 on warne dovetail rings. It's a sweet rifle, and very accurate.

Tell you what mate ive done a lot of shooting but the 22 mag has been a bullet i have never shot until recently , I brought a little cz heavy barrel in 17 hmr years ago and that was one of my most accurate rifles unless there was a bit of wind or a blade of grass or leaf between rifle and target but im surprised how much knock down power the round actually has and I love it especially out of my little cz 515 , i kind of feel I've been missing out all these years

I had/bought a 22 wmr a couple years ago ( Ruger Precision) as well as it’s twin in 17 hmr with the intention of only keeping one, and I kept the 17, I don’t regret my decision, my 17 is a laser, but every time I watch someone shooting a 22 mag I know another one is in my immediate future.

Ammo is very important!!!!! If you’re shooting bulk ammo, it’s fine for plinking, but it’s not going clover leaf a one hole group. My cz’s are amazing shooters, but they do not like Winchester ammo. Ok with cci, federal, and Remington. They really shine with some Eley subsonic and bench rest outlaw. 5 shots one hole. So what I’m saying is it may not be you it could be your ammo.

I saw a video where this ammo out of a cheaper Ruger shot 0.7 at 100 yards. I bought a pack of this ammo today and will run it through my CZ-452 .22 Magnum as see how they group. Thanks for sharing Addy and beautiful rifle too I should add!

I have the 457 Varmint in 22LR with the bull barrel. I had it threaded over at Nashville Armory and absolutely love it. Shooting subsonics through it basically sounds like a pellet gun and it groups amazingly well.

there are two very important reasons to mount your scope as close to the barrel as possible. One is your scope adjustment you’ll run out a vertical adjustment if your scope is mounted too high. The second and probably the most important is cheek weld. It’s easier to get a constant repeatable results I’d cheek weld on your rifle us the every time. But if your head is above the comb of the stock because of a to high scope mount , your cheek is never in the sam place and actually above the comb of the stock and you are actually searching for the proper sight picture through the scope. But if the scope is low enough that you can get the same cheek weld with your eyes closed and when you open them you see clearly through the scope without having to change that weld.

Couldn't of said it any better myself mate you are spot on , higher scope your always going to be adjusting the stock on your cheek up and down instead of shouldering it and locking it in and getting that clear full picture through the scope every time... you can leed a horse to water mate but you can't make it drink 👌🏽

I tested the whole cheek weld thing by completely removing the cheek rest from my AI atx so there was nothing for my face to touch. Shot a .25moa group and actually kind of like it without a cheek rest now

I've got a CZ 455 Varmint in .17 HMR and a CZ 457 Varmint MTR in .22lr. Both with "bull" barrels and both are incredibly accurate. Try Blaser bulk ammo for your .22lr trainer. It's actually made by CCI, is dirt cheap when bought in bulk and is accurate as can be. You can't tell the difference between Blaser and CCI Standard Velocity as far as accurate goes. I swear they are made on the same line in CCI's factory. I see no difference accuracy wise when I shoot the two side by side. If you're going to use it as an actual Varmint eraser, you should consider getting a couple of 10 round mags. The 5 rounders are a pain in the neck when you have to keep stopping to reload every 5 shots. Two or more loaded 10 round mags are the way to go. Great way to turn a Prairie Dog town into a Ghost town.

I just picked up one these little rifles. I put a Leopold 6x18. Scope on it. So far the only ammo I've fed through it is fiocchi. Can't seem to keep it under 2 inch groups at 100yds. Gonna try some other brands.

I just my new cz457 22wmr with the at-one stock out for the first time last week. It was shooting clover leaf 5-shot groups at 65 yards consistently with cci maxi mag. I picked up a few boxes of hornady 30 grain v-max to test this weekend. I also have a 457 varmint mtr in 22lr. Love them both.

I recently picked one up. the American synthetic suppressor ready. awesome shooter. does not like the heavier projectiles. It loves the CCI TNT / VNT 30 grain and the Hornady 30 Grain. .37 to .55 MOA at 100 yards literally out of the box (ok, so I mounted a scope on it). probably better with a better shooter but I was so impressed.

Only reason the scope height has any effect on accuracy is your comfort on how your face can lay against the stock. You should be able to put your cheek on the stock then open your eye if the scope is the correct height you will be looking through the scope naturally, if not you need to lower the scope or raise the cheek rest to make that happen.

For bolt guns, but for defensive rifles, I've started preferring a slightly higher mount so I can truly keep my head up. Especially on something like a PS90 or CZ Scorpion.

My rule of thumb for scope rings is use low mount rings with a scope objective 40mm or smaller. If it's above 40mm, then go with the medium scope rings. There are exceptions to this rule, but it has worked for me many times.

Actually since scope ring actual heights and measurements is not standard between different ring manufacturers what one manufacturer deems as being med height another may deem or designate the exact same height to be "high" rings in their product line so you actually need to get a measurement of the distance from the mount to the point the manufacturer uses to determine their rings height. Most would be the to the center of the scope tube, although I believe a few use to the bottom of the scope tube. Many people will use coins to get the correct objective lens to barrel clearance and then measure the coin stack and add in the measurement from the bottom to the middle of the scope tube to determine the correct height of the rings to order. This method will keep one from just guessing and ordering the wrong height rings allow the guns owner to get the scope height where it needs to be for them on the first go round.

Got the same rifle. Except I installed a 10 oz Timney trigger. 6- 18 Vortex scope. Used Warne rings ( 11 mm side down) Shoots great little groups using 30 grain Hornady VMax or CCI 40 grain Maxi Mags. 10 oz Timney trigger made a difference!!! How about an ammo comparison sometime?

Mounting height can make a lot of difference. Some rifles don't have a high enough cheek piece. When using such a high mount you have to lift your cheek off the stock too see through the scope. On these rifles you need to use lower mounts. I have often had to use the lowest rings I could get and still needed to pad the stock higher to have a good check weld and see through the scope.

You can see through the scope without anywhere to rest your cheek. I recently shot groups with my cheek rest removed completely and it didn't change a thing for me. I actually probably shot better with less of me interfering with the rifle.

Isnt it typical you get a great group..But a flyer ! ..I dont know weather its safe but i used to be able to put 22mag down my old BSA Sportsman single shot Bolt Action Rifle and used them against Carrion Crows and Herring Gulls when you couldn't get close they have a bit more reach and wallop to them than ordinary 22's ..Thats a nice little Rifle you got there i agree CZ make Good Rifles!

Cz is my favorite RF and I own 4 different ones but my favorite is a 453 varmint 22lr with the single set trigger which is a unicorn these days the only made them a year I think but they're amazing one hole groups at 50 yards with a bunch of types of ammo
