As a former gunsmith the cz rear sight is probably the easiest I have ever encountered to remove. Small leaf spring underneath. Push down on top of the sight and pull rearward. Hope this helps.

Yes, but you still have part of the rear sight on there that's really in the way. I mounted a Leupold freedom scope (for .22) and I still couldn't get it to mount. The front objective is 40mm. I had to put on a EGW picitinny rail.

I’ve always wanted one of the CZ bolt guns and I finally ended up getting one a few weeks ago. I’ve always wanted an ultra lux model, and finally when shopping with my buddy to get him a new 308, I saw one for the first time in person. A CZ457 Jaguar which is the successor to the ultra lux model name. It’s got a 28.5” barrel which is perfect because I love peep sights. Only pain is that the bolt redesign makes half the rear sights I’d use incompatible/too wide because of how the bolt comes up beside the rear rail. Still amazing bolt action .22s. The 28.5” barrel also does what I wanted it for and makes CCI quiets basically a click and a thump of it hitting the target. Also pull that puppy out of the stock and you can adjust the trigger to be so perfect that it’s not funny. One screw to take the pre travel out or add more, one to reduce or add weight and one to reduce travel after the trigger pull. I removed all but .5mm of pre travel and lightened the pull. So much easier to shoot good with, only problem is I’m a bit nervous about a trigger with no pre travel and a 1-3lb? Pull. Not unsafe, just really easy to set off. That’s what trigger discipline is for though 🤷‍♂️

The rear sight leaf is super simple to remove if you know how. The pin does not come out. Just push down on the front of the sight at the "pin" and slide the sight rearward. I you need more clearance, I think you can remove the sight base (bottom part). On the 457 series, I believe the base is attached to the barrel with screws and can be completely removed. Awesome rifles. That Norma Tac-22 was shooting quite good. Ya gotta love those CZ rimfires!

I have the same rifle only in the older 452 model. This is my 2nd one n foolishly sold my 1st in the 90’s. Superb accuracy with 36 n 38gr ammo. However I use a 2-7x28mm Leupold n it has accounted for dozens of spruce hens n hundreds of gophers here in western Canada. The shorter compact scope does not touch the elevator rear sight. Which itself is very accurate with practice.

Hi Adam. I know I'm a year late to this party and someone has probably already explained or even shown you how to remove that rear sight. It easy and no tools required. There's a little leaf spring under the front of that tangent sight. Just press down on top of the front of it with one hand and pull it rearward from the back with your other hand. Easy-peasy. Thanks for all the interesting, entertaining and informative vids. Please keep them coming. BTW... How about doing a video on the 9.3X62 Mauser caliber? I'd really like to see that. It's one of the most underrated calibers out there. At least, here in North America it is. Think .35 Whelen on steroids! Ballistics wise, it falls somewhere in between a .35 Whelen and a .375 H&H. Try it, you'll like it. I prefer using either 250grn Nosler Accubonds or Norma ammo loaded with .286grn A-Frames. You can also find it in cheaper brands like PPU and Sellier & Bellot. I think Norma also loads it with 232grn Oryx bullets as well which I've heard are very good but unfortunately have not had a chance to try. I have a Sako M85 Classic and Ruger No.1 both in 9.3X62. Love them. I live in B.C. Canada. This year I'm going to use my Sako on my Moose hunt and possibly for a Mule Deer as well if i get that lucky. 286grn Norma A-Frames for the Moose. 250grn Nosler's for the Muley. One day, I plan on using that single shot Ruger for a Bison hunt. I've not used 9.3X62 for a hunt before, but I hear that they don't leave alot of bloodshot ruined meat behind like alot of hyper velocity calibers do. I'll leave the .300WM behind this year. 7mm-08, .308 and 9.3X62 only for this year's hunting. You can find rifle brands in 9.3X62 from Ruger M77 (and No.1 but those are rare), Sauer, Tikka, Sako, Blazer, Mauser. But those last two are hella expensive brands. I suggest a Sauer XT 100. They cost about the same as a Ruger Hawkeye. At least, they do in this neck o' de woods. But they have excellent barrels, excellent triggers and fantastic accuracy. Especially for the price. I had one in .308 a few years ago. It was incredibly accurate. Perhaps Heavy Metal can get one in for you to borrow for a video.

The rear sight will come off. Put the rifle on a fitm surface, push down HARD on the front of the sight until you feel the leaf spring compress and pull to the rear. Does the 28 inch barrel tends to be more accurate?
@jasonforester4572
@jasonforester4572 Жыл бұрын
@@FT86TT I've had a CZ 455 "Ultralux" with the 28.68 inch barrel for a few years now and I love it. It's as incredibly accurate as any of the other CZ rimfire versions I have, from 452 to 455's and 457's. The barrel length doesn't really make it MORE accurate, but it sure isn't less so by any means. What it does do and where it really shines is in two areas. First, the barrel length gives you an extremely long sight radius between the front and rear sights which makes it a great rifle to shoot with just the open sights. I put a scope on it when i first got it, but took it off after a while and have left it off. The second and coolest way it shines is with "subsonic" ammo. The barrel length makes it darned near as quiet as a rifle with a silencer/moderator on it. It's much quieter with all types of .22lr ammo, but super quiet with subsonic. You definitely hear a difference. The varmints, they don't hear a thing. I like the changes made for the new 457's. Except for some of the stocks. I think the "Jaguar" stock is particularly hideous. My 455 has an amazing looking Walnut stock. The new Jaguars come with a fugly Beech wood stock with terrible machine pressed markings on the grip area and on the fore end. I'm looking at the possibility of just getting a nice walnut 457 Lux stock and swapping it out with the fugly Beech Jaguar version. Cool name. Fugly stock. Until then, I'm keeping my 455 Ultralux.

A remarkable gun. Shooting from a fixture eliminates any human error, pretty much just leaving the ammo is the variable. Looks to me to be about a half inch MOA. I can shoot one, to 1.5 inch MOA with my Ruger 10/22. Great comparison!

Guy at Buds in Lexington was able to pop the rear sight off for my crossfire 2 install on med warne rings. Took him a while but there was a way of doing it.

I took rear sight off of mine. You just have to lift up slightly and push with thumb as you line the pins up with grove. Kind of like an AK rear sight leaf. I havent had chance to take it to range yet. I just picked up the ruger precision rimfire. I think I am going to like it better. It has all the attributes on stock I am looking for. Plus if the accuracy needs help green mountain is making them.

Absolutely love my 457. Got the synthetic version after trading it for a 452. Thought I'd have regrets but happy to say it's a better gun.

I have one more need to have gun- a CZ 457 Lux in .17 HMR. Might be a day, might be a week, might be 3 years. But when I see one I'll buy it.

Try pressing the back sight down and slide it off like its done with CZ 452. It doesn't look unlike the earlier model, at least in the video. Good luck.

I usually just look down the bore and set the scope with that. I only use the laser when it is to much trouble or not possible to look down the bore.

laser pointer where the bolt goes, through the bore is nice too if there's room. they're making cartridges like that nowadays.

Rear sight removal , slide "slide" back on the sight than push down above where is 200 in between ears where you see "pin" , depressing front while pulling back and it just slide out. Yes that easy ;-DDD
