I got the ambidextrious version which is the cz85 back in 2006. It was my first pistol I ever bought. IT's too heavy for everyday concealed carry, but I shoot that gun well and im very confident in my abilities with it. It's the only pistol that ive owned for almost 20 years that has never had a failure or stoppage of any kind. That thing just works. Whether you clean it or not, it's going to work. So it's my nighstand gun for home invaders. But definitely not a good carry pistol. But I have at least 15,000 rounds through it in 19 years and it's never had any kind of stoppage or failures. I trust that pistol with my life and always will. CZ makes the best handguns on the market in my opinion.

OOh thanks for info on the cz85. I had not learned of this before. I am an ambi shooter and I have one of the 75BDs and I love it but it is RH only. I will have to go about finding myself an 85 and see if I like or not. I have heard mixed reviews on certain designs of ambi controls accidently ejecting a magazine if the holster bumps into something just right. I would not want that to happen so that might not be a good trade off.

I also have a BD it's my favorite 9mm to shoot at the range. I don't practice with it all the time but it's always the most fun (9mm). I mostly shoot my P229 since that is my edc closely followed by my GP100 4" since it is my other ccw. Also own a p226 MK25, SP101, and a CZ75 D compact (PCR) which is also very nice to shoot.

This is becoming my favorite pistol. It’s at least on my top 3 list now and slowly working its way into first place. My only suggestion for improvement with the gun, is the beaver tail needs to be slightly longer and WIDER. After shooting about the third box of ammo in one session, the current beaver tail really digs into the web of your hand and becomes sore by breaking the skin. Also, the plastic grips it comes with are crap. However I went online and bought genuine factory rubber grips for it. They feel much better. One word of caution however and it seems to be the biggest gripe about the CZ rubber grips… that is installing them. The CZ factory rubber gripes are surprisingly kind of a bitch to install! The issue is one side of the grips don’t line up exactly with the holes in the frame of the gun. For me, one side fit perfectly and the grip screw went in straight. However the second grip panel and the screw holes didn’t match up exactly with the holes on the gun’s frame. Be careful you don’t cross thread the screw into the frame, as it easy to do. Then you’re screwed! The grip and frame holes are just misaligned ever so slightly. So I like others, just took a small drill bit that was just a hair larger in diameter than the screw itself and gently reamed the hole in the grip. This allowed the holes to line up straight and I was able to screw down the grip panel onto the gun without any other issues. The rubber grips feel amazing and makes the gun an even better joy to shoot.

I'm really enjoying it so far as well. I don't have any issue with the beaver tail digging into my hand personally, but I see what you're saying. Might I suggest trying the CZ SP01. The beaver tail is longer and a bit of a different shape. I haven't shot one personally, but I hear they are very nice. I do agree that the plastic grips are the downside of this pistol, and they feel a bit cheap for such a well-made weapon. Thanks for the install tip on the rubber grips, I'll have to order a set for mine. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

I put 200 rounds through mine last week and did not have those issues at all. I have a medium -Large size hand. You might just need to train with it some more so you can toughen your hand up. That is something I am working on. I have not been turning wrenches or anything to keep my hands tough so they got soft and weak. I had to get out the old grip flex spring gadget and work on my grip. It is coming along. I also hold the pistol out aiming at a zero target in my home office several times a day just to get used to holding it up to aim. Practice makes perfect. Train train train.

@@Carnaln8ure Yeah I have bear claw hands. I’ve worked with my hands with tools all my life. I weld and fabricate metal on the side, aside from being retired now from my other blue collar career. That involved 34 years of carrying a gun for a large LE agency and shooting most of my life. The CZ 75 B series has a beavertail that’s too small. That’s the only complaint the gun is famous for as well.

Do you plan on carrying it? If so, how does the weight feel? Thanks
@RealPorkchop8 ай бұрын
I don't plan on concealed carry. It's too big for me to conceal without a jacket on. The claimed weight without ammo is a little over 2 lbs, then 15 + 1 rounds of 9mm, and she's pretty hefty. With a good gun belt and the right size person and clothing choice, you could conceal carry it just fine. I personally use a Kore Essentials gun belt.
