Took this to the range for the first time, along with a Glock 19, an Beretta APX. The CZ 75 was the best of the 3 by far. Racking the slide was like slicing butter with a hot knife. My shot group was tight and on target. Recoil was soft and all in all, the CZ 75 was amazing. I have the CZ 75B, not ideal for conceal carry, but definitely an outstanding firearm.

I have a good friend I worked with at the Air And Space Museum with. Our unit would go shooting at a range near Dulles Airport. He was former NYC arson investigator. While the rest of us were shooting our Glocks and and sigs and berettas and 1911's he was happy shooting his CZ75. It was the 1st time I shot it. And I was really happy with the way it shot. And it shot any type of ammo you put through it.

I would suggest adding a pair of non-coated nitrile gloves to help keep any lead residue off of your hands. Also, a trick to cleaning the spring is to insert the edge of your cleaning patch into the top side of the spring, so that it runs between the coils, wrap the patch around it and then using a twisting motion, run spring through the patch. You would be surprised how much residue comes off.

Yet another good video. Thanks. I use a little variation. (1) I use Ballistol, and lots of it. I soak most of it - not the firing pin area, and let it sit for a while. It won't hurt rubber, plastic or wood. In fact, wood loves it. Then I brush, and spray again. Then dry, with an air blaster a little, and wipe with clean cloths. (2) I use a bore snake instead of a brush. (3) I don't use "oil" on the barrel, slide, or other parts that have metal-to-metal contact. I use only grease for that. I like Lubriplate SFL-0. It's non toxic (Ballistol is too). The main difference between grease and oil is that oil "migrates." It will flow anywhere it can. That's good in some places, but not good on the slide. You want something that will stay put, and lubricate until it's lost its usefulness, not until it migrates away. Not all of my shooting buddies agree, but this works great for me, and I am seeing very few signs of wear even after thousands of rounds.

My (1990) CZ-75 pre-B was my first CZ pistol, owned it for 27years, probably shot 300-400 times since I've had it. Great shooter, tad to heavy for concealed carry but occasionally in the winter (big coat). We used to clean our Berettas this way in the Guard--I apply what I've learned to all my pistols. Plenty of revolvers and autos since then, esp. my P10c and SP-01 Tactical, both awesome shooters.

I can't believe a seasoned veteran like SOOTCH00 doesn't know the first stage of the hammer is the slide hold position to remove the slide pin! Come on man! It's genius on CZ's part! You don't even need to be cautious about lining up the marks on the slide/frame. You just pull the hammer back to the first stage, and then pull the slide back. The lines match up, and you can pull the slide pin out.

It's important to change your guide rod spring after 4,000 rounds. The slide will eventually begin to malfunction (mainly not going into battery, dead trigger) causing stress on the gun. It happened to me, so I thought I'd pass it along.

My CZ85B would only shoot flawlessly with certain ammo like Remington 115 grain. In KZbin I found other owners with similar problems. Mostly misfires and the remedy is to change the firing pin. I was able to find an extended firing pin through Numrich. Since then my CZ will cycle every type of 9mm. It’s my favorite pistol. It’s elegant and definitely accurate

My CZ75BD is a keeper. I'll use a tiny bit of gun grease on the slide rails - seems to work well and the grease does a great job of trapping residue. Just wipe clean with a dry cloth folded to get in the rail crease. After about 1,000 rounds or so, I'll remove the firing pin and clean out the channel using a dry Q-tip.

great vid...don't currently have a cz & miss my p-09 from time to time; my cleaning-lubing process is more involved...guess my ocd pushes me; hoppes 9 or custom blended lube (more on that later) in bore, internal surfaces with fouling (breech face, ramp, mag well, locking block area, etc...bore gets bronze brush 35-50 times to clear our grooves as much as possible (seen used guns for sale with oxidized copper fouling in the bores within the grooves); revolver chambers get 10-15 passes with bronze brush; then use patches, qtips, brushes (nylon, bronze, stainless steel...varies on gun finish) to detail clean tight areas; after that I use polymer safe degreaser spray and hit everything to remove solvent, lube, grime (especially firing pin channels, revolver internals, internal workings on semis); use qtips with degreaser to detail clean tight areas; allow to air dry (shake components to get excess degreaser out of tight areas; meanwhile I take patch with lube & clean magazine bodies & followers; bore & revolver chambers get lubed patches & sit a few minutes while using lubed patch on all visible surfaces (including polymer frames to remove residue, carbon, abraded skin, etc; all lube is removed with microfiber clothes, qtips, patches; lube applicable working surfaces (drip 1-2 drops into revolver internals) & reassemble firearms; work mechanisms & remove excess lube during 1st hour after reassembly...recheck in 24 hours to remove excess oil creep (same thing whenever handling after storage); home brew lube is currently g96 & 15w-40 motor oil in approximately 1:1 ratio (shake aggressively several times during first few hours after mixing to 'burp out' aerosol propellent & occasionally let sit with cap loosened up to allow propellent to dissolve out)...shake dripper bottles to blend mix when using for cleaning /lubing;

Well I use cleaning gloves to minimize how much lead and chemicals get on my hands, and then I use 2 of those green cleaning mats, a small pistol one on top of a shotgun one just to all the excess oil that may or may not seep through the first mat is absorbed into the 2nd and not my table. And also I tend to spray my CLP outside in the backyard away from the house just to make sure I’m as well ventilated as possible. And also I have a roll of paper towels at hand just in case. And then when I’m done I try to avoid touching anything until I’ve thoroughly washed my hands in cold water

Excellent video! One thing, though...I'm not sure it has a low bore axis as the barrel isn't that much lower than it is on other guns (when I compare my CZs to 1911s, Glocks, Hi Powers, and Caniks). The Glock and some other polymer guns have a much lower bore axis. What the CZ-75 does have is a smaller slide (but corresponding higher frame sides) so there's less reciprocating mass and the beaver tail allows a higher grip.

The bore axis isn’t really that low on the CZ75, it’s the short slide that gives that illusion. The bore axis is pretty much on par with other hammer fired guns, it just the slide isn’t as tall as say a sig/hk/beretta/1911. Measure from the beaver tail to the bore and see for yourself

TheDoonzman bore axis is the relation the bore has in regard to the hand or how close in line with the hand, nothing to do with how much slide material is above the hand. The slide and bore are two separate things. That’s why guns like the Rhino and Alien are truly revolutionary guns, the bore axis is in line with the knuckles more or less but there is still material above the hand. I get what you’re saying, I wish others would as well. We are now in a low bore axis short trigger reset crazed gun world. That’s all you hear about anymore. Not saying that’s a bad thing but it’s just getting to be annoying

Correct. According to one chart on the web, the CZ 75 comes in at 1.57" so low-ish for a hammer fired gun (significantly better than a Beretta 92 or a 1911) but not in the same low-bore axis league of the P-10c, glock, steyr, and other low-bore striker fired guns.

Watching this I’m reminded of the scene from Forest Gump where the drill instructor is yelling at him during the rifle disassembly. “Sootch why did you disassemble the weapon so quickly?! Because you told me to drill sergeant”.

Thanks for this video. Awaiting delivery of my CZ 75B Retro, and wasn't sure if there'd be a thorough video on how to clean it. How little did I know just how popular the CZ 75's are.

I have a CZ75 SP01; totally awesome. That little extra weight on the nose from the pic rail vs. the base 75 really makes it just a little nicer to shoot. Everyone that tries it really likes it. Yeah it's big and heavy, but that's what's nice and makes it a great gun for going to the range with so you can really concentrate on becoming a better shot. Low recoil and great for new shooters.

I just installed a set of Dawson precision night sights on my P-01 a few days ago. I'm really surprised that Sootch didn't change out the factory luminescent painted sights. They are the worst sights I've ever had on a pistol in my life

i was a 1911 guy until I bought a 75 SP 01. Then a 75 B Compact to carry and then a 75 Cold War Edition. I've never had a failure to feed or eject or fire or ejecting brass hit me in the face with a CZ with any ammo. The only problem ever was when I put a short mag in a full size gun and the ammo wasn't high enough to feed. That was user error, not the gun.

I can't say enough good things about this weapon. I am going to lubricate the slide with molybdenum grease (applying it very sparingly and wiping off all excess). We'll see if it makes it smoother or easier to rack.

I have the CZ 75 D compact and CZ 75 P-01 and have been having issues with failure to load on both. Both guns are new, I have maybe maximum 300 rounds through each. I have tried different ammo, and each time I take them to the range, I'm having failure to load issues with both. Yesterday my 75D Compact froze up. It would not fire, so I dropped the magazine, tried pulling the slide to empty the chamber, but the slide was stuck. I pulled the hammer back and tried firing it down range but just got the click of the hammer, I did it a second time and nothing. It finally expelled the round on the third attempt. I thought it was just a fluke, so I put in a different magazine, and after the third shot, the same thing happened. I couldn't even pull the slide back. everything was just stuck.
