The Sig P210 was also one of the biggest inspirations for the CZ75. You can see the similarities with the slide in frame design. The CZ Shadow 2 especially has a familiar look to the old Sig design.

DA is when the hammer is up and not cocked, SA is when the hammer is down (cocked). Hence SAO guns, they only fire when the hammer is down. Hate to be "that guy" but it was bothering me lol

The CZ wasn’t based off the Hi Power design. The CZ 75 was created in likeness in that it was a large capacity 9mm but that’s where the similarities end. It was actually based off the Sig P210. Inverted slide rails and other design choices were based off of Charles Petter designs not Browning’s.
@SquireSCA8 ай бұрын
Clearly, it borrowed a lot of things from the BHP. It also had similarities to the Sig as you mentioned... But it had a lot in common with the BHP: Both are chambered for 9mm. (Later versions of both are also chambered in .40 S&W.) Both were conceptualized for military use. Both are similar in size & weight, with the CZ being slightly larger. Both have a 1:10 twist. Both utilize barrels with locking lugs, which is straight from John M. Browning. Both are recoil operated. Both have the mainspring below the barrel. Neither uses a detachable barrel bushing. Both pistols' grip panels are secured with one screw each. Both have external hammers. Both have thumb safeties. Both are capable of cocked-and-locked carry. Both use detachable double-stack magazines. Both use external pivoting spring-loaded extractors, although the early Hi Powers used an internal one. Both use pivoting triggers. Both have a relatively few number of internal parts compared to some other designs. Both guns have lightening cuts on the front of the slide. (Later versions of the CZ-75 do not.) Both guns (CZ-75 Pre-B) use a slide stop retaining plate to secure the firing pin and spring. Both guns use a push-button magazine release located at the rear of the trigger guard. Both guns originally came with ring hammers. (The Hi Power and CZ-75 were produced with spur hammers for a number of years. CZ went back to an abbreviated ring hammer. The Hi Power used the old factory ring hammer in the Practical model.) Both use a one-piece feed ramp. Both have been copied and used outside of their respective nations of origin. So far it would seem that the Hi Power and the CZ-75 are like peas in a pod, but let's take a look at differences.

I replace the stock hammer spring with Cajun Gun Works 15# springs. It reduces the DA trigger pull, and ignites every brand of ammo I throw at it. My wife’s full size CZ 75B Omega has a 13# spring with a lighter firing pin spring, and it’s never failed through over 800 rounds.
@Subtlenimbus Жыл бұрын
Better trigger pull, but the hammer is one of the things that slows the slide down during recoil. The slide stop will get more abuse and probably break sooner.
@Subtlenimbus Жыл бұрын
The CZ design does not give it a low bore axis. The barrel is still in the same place as most other guns. They made the slide shorter, while making the frame taller to compensate. This lowers the mass of the slide, which reduces muzzle flip during recoil.

Either way, it works. :-)

I knew CZs were very popular outside the USA, but I had no idea it was more issued than even a Hi Power.
@SquireSCA Жыл бұрын
Yeah, they are popular here now, but for many years during the cold war, they were hard to get in the US. So the rest of the world got to enjoy them and we got to read about them... Once the cold war ended and relations with eastern bloc countries normalized, we started importing more of their guns and their popularity here exploded. Some folks think they are new, but they are one of the world's oldest arms manufacturers...

Currently vacationing in California (warmer but a hell of a lot more expensive than Scotland). An 82 year old professor told me that "Georgia is the most racist State in America". Oh & "The Republicans want to enslave the black community again". My first and only woke encounter - thankfully. Not relevant to video but an eye opener. I asked him whether he had ever been to Georgia. No! Oh he brought that stuff up in a bar. He was curious what a UK person knew about current affairs.
@SquireSCA2 жыл бұрын
California is whack. Amazing geography, but the people are insane. GA isn't racist, any more than any other state. They just say that, so that they can dismiss anything coming out of GA without having to actually debate it. Eg. Our new election laws, that protect voter integrity... The laws we enacted, have already been on the books in NY and Delaware, Biden's home state. But when we enacted them, suddenly we are racist and they are not? They claimed our new laws would prevent minorities from voting, meanwhile, since our new laws took effect, we have seen massive increases in voter turn out, early voting, etc... There is nothing racist about making sure that the votes being cast, are from legal residents and that they only get to vote once. lol There is a reason why millions of people have fled CA and moved to TX and GA, among other red states... I wonder if the guy you talked to, understands that its was the Democrat Party that fought to KEEP slaves, and that founded the KKK, wrote Jim Crowe laws, etc...?

@@SquireSCA I didn't bite. Not my place but part of your last point was on the tip of my tongue. I probably know a lot more about US history than the average American. Cali? Done that, got the T-Shirt, won't be back. It's drained my bank account on taxes & fees!
@SquireSCA2 жыл бұрын
@@SigmaJAD And that is a shame, because in many ways, it's an amazing state... But it's insanely expensive, the regulations are oppressive and the average person is so out of touch with reality because they live in this ideological echo chamber... GA is a fantastic state, with a lot of similar geography, but more level headed and cheaper to live, hence why half of the film industry has moved to GA. Ever watch Ozarch on Netflix? It's filmed literally down the street from me. Avenger's movies, all sorts of tv shows, Walking Dead, the list goes on. And we have riding areas equal to anything in California... And the southern accent here, is largely based on the large settlement of Scotch and Irish that came to the early colonies.... When I was in Scotland, I immediately realized where the accent around here came from, it was obvious... It's changed over the years, but the roots are there, clearly...

@SquireSCA2 жыл бұрын
@@SigmaJAD It's not that most of them aren't friendly... It's that most of them politically, have no ties to reality. They tend to put feelings and intentions above all else, and they completely ignore the cost of things, or whether they actually work or not. I can be friends with Liberals, because my politics are mostly based on facts, logic and the rule of law. As such, I can compartmentalize people from their beliefs. Most Liberals, ARE Liberals because they feel rather than think. Their politics are based on emotions, and so they are too intertwined to separate the person from the belief. Hence why they say stupid things like "Republicans want to make black people slaves again", when it was the Republicans that freed the slaves and Democrats who continue to crush the black community with their policies in all these big blue cities... Anyway, hope you make it back! I think you would love this part of the country.
