Good vid. Can't believe how it brings out the cowards and loonies. My next .22 lr will be the CZ455.
@rennovattio78186 жыл бұрын
I'll wager the mysterious missing 5th round from the 2nd group slid nicely dead center into one of the already made holes. I watched the end of the muzzle when you fired several rounds and listened carefully to the sound and I could tell no difference between those and that missing 5th round. Hard to believe a flyer would miss completely that entire target stand, unless it hit a bird on the way and I didn't see any feathers - as what happened to me once - lol Really enjoyed watching this video from beginning to end, not something I always do - usually too long or boring or both. Really good set-up, and enjoyed *hearing it* impact the target! Well done. Thumbs Up, Mate!

Perhaps on a less windy day!! The Eley seem the best option, Not bad for a cheap rifle! A well looked after Anschutz 1416 accuracy is on another level believe me, Using Winchester sub's on a calm day would clover leaf the bull at that range!! Depending how good a shot UR!! Good video all the same welldone 🤔🇬🇧👍

Hi Elliot - Liked the video. I also have the CZ 452 (Varmint) and in general, I have been using either Eley Subs or RWS Subs. They are more expensive than some of the other brands but are far, far better and accuracy is the key or why otherwise pull the trigger! I did however last weekend try some of the CCI subsonics (nice reusable 100 round clear container as well) and at 70 metres, they were more accurate than the RWS rounds I had been using beforehand. They are a marginally faster round so less holdover needed on distances up to 100 metres. Only downside (and I have experienced this with everything I have tried but excludes the Eleys/RWS) is on quite a few occasions, the spent round does not eject out of the chamber. There is a plus in that there is marked difference in price, I can get 500 CCI Subs for around £34 whereas the Eley's are £48 for the same amount - 42% more expensive!! Keep up the good work.
@TriggerPullTV9 жыл бұрын
Thanks Frankie, the CCI's are certainly cheaper but I don't think there's much that can touch the Eley subs although CCI do come quite close. I've also had the extraction issue with the CCI rounds too. I guess it's best to use whatever you're confident with and stick to it rather than faff about swapping ammo!
@MrFRANKIE11469 жыл бұрын
TriggerPullTV Thanks Elliot - managed to get a brick of 500 Eley subs for £48 so quiet pleased. Are you using a SAK moderator?
@TriggerPullTV9 жыл бұрын
FRANKIE HOWARD Yeah it's a SAK. Wouldn't really say you need much better to be honest. It's often used as a benchmark to test other mods. With subs it's virtually silent
@MrFRANKIE11469 жыл бұрын
TriggerPullTV Hi Elliot, I have SAK's fitted to both my rimfires. On the .22LR, I have wrapped some very thin scotchbrite equivalent from a cheapo shop (B & M I think) on the internal 3 section parts of the moderator. I have then kept this in place with some electrical tape. You need to do this tightly as possible otherwise it will not slide back into the outer part of the SAK. The end result is it is whisper quiet, you can virtually not hear the shot when its taken. I only did this because someone somewhere said it quietened the HMR, it does but not to any great extent compared to the LR. Might be of interest or not. Good hunting...where are you in the UK?
@spruce29687 жыл бұрын
I also have a CZ 452 Varmint and the best so far is CCI Subsonic. Five shot group of .385" at 50 yards. SK standard plus 1070 fps is supposedly the same as Wolf rifle match. I'll have to try some.

Great video.... Love those CZ rifles. I've got a 452 Ultra Lux that is extremely accurate and should be picking up a 455 Varmint tomorrow when it arrives. I'm jealous..... I wish Hawaii would allow us to have suppressors 😕 Other states allow them after purchasing a $250 federal tax stamp.

You did really really well mate in that wind. You mentioned the 17HMR and whilst it’s a lot quicker it’s generally only 17 grain and they blow about a lot more compared to a 40 grain 22 imho.

Remington at 2 grains lighter should be hitting high not low. My 452 loves the Eley round closely followed by RWS. I have never found a Remington round that is accurate, when I was instructing, the students would use Rems because of the price, if anyone showed a flair for shooting I put them on Eley straight away and their shooting always improved. Great vid mate and thanks for your time and effort.
@TriggerPullTV9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the post and I agree, Eley ammo really is top notch! I think the Remmingtons will be perfectly adequate for close range targets or perhaps even squirrrls when hide shooting - providing the backstop is safe of course!
@fourty4magjr7 жыл бұрын

Eley £5 for 50. CCI probably £3.50 for 50. Minimags are £7 for box of 100.Very clean burning.However individual barrels react differently. In my Ruger 10/22 T Stainless it takes about 5 shots between types to settle the barrel. You may also find this with the CZ . Perhaps a few shots before you actually test the grouping. As to HMR several freinds have had issues with split cases and variable powder charges. It may also pay to sort ammo by weight. See Richard Uttings results with Minimags. Very interesting.

Cracking video Elliott, I've held off commenting until now as I only recently bought my first .22LR; I did the opposite to most folk and tried .17HMR, .223, .243 & .308 first! I've tried the Remington, Ely and also some SK (Lapua) subs so far, but not the Winchester yet. Like you I've a CZ but the 455 variant. So far, through my rifle, the SK's have performed best once range is pushed out to 70 & 100yds, although the Ely weren't far behind group wise. The SK's do seem to have a smaller 'hollow' point so I imagine the Ely's & Winchester may have better expansion but the bunnies haven't noticed so far... I'll try a box of the Winchester subs and see how I get on but I'll be surprised if they beat the SK for accuracy. Keep the vids coming :)

Ey up fella, really enjoy your videos - really useful in helping me decide what calibre's to go for etc when I put in for my FAC. How do you rate the Shoot-N-C targets you're using? Keep up the good work mucka

Elliot I have the same rifle .Eley subs I always use.Using mildot reticule . Rabbits in still air at 130 yards is quite possible with the gun.I use a Parker Hale Moderator which gives good results.The CZ has won a club competition at 25 yards with Eley subs scoring 100% on standard 25 yard on standard .22 competion targets against expensive guns etc.shooting off one's elbows from a bench ! Using a scope mind you not peep sights. You might find CCI Standard velocity ammo good too.My BSA Martini Mk V loves it but also favours Eley Subs at 100M on a military range.
@TriggerPullTV10 жыл бұрын
Thanks Graham, I'll give the CCI's a try too. The only downside to the Eley is that they are quite pricey as far as .22LR ammo goes. Still over 50% cheaper than the HMR. I'd be interested to know what the retail price of the CCI's are

I only read down about 20 or so comments so apologies if this, my post, is redundant. You'll notice the two low shots in the first group were both when you could hear the wind die down. You didn't have as much "push" from the wind as you did while firing the other 3 rounds, therefore they dropped a bit.
@bogoff999 жыл бұрын
btw. eley subsonics is the best i have found for my cz452 also, try cci subsonics, they are pretty good also. i had my best group of 5 with them but on a whole the eley seem to be more consistent and accurate

452 trigger is like the latch on a garden gate. The 453 has a beautiful fully adjustable target grade trigger. Varmint has a heavier barrel and flat forend compared to a standard 452 which has a slimmer more sporting stock. 453 better for long range of a bipod. 452 lighter and arguably better out of back of land rover shooting without a rest.
