How is your Weigela doing? I've been looking into them. And like to plant some in the spring. I'm tired of trimming my Boxwood's and would like something that just grows naturally. Gets really hot down here in Texas. Could they withstand that kind of heat?

What a beautiful weigela! They are a nice shrub in full bloom in the spring and all summer long. I find mine tend to have some blooms for much of the summer after the big spring show is finished. That shrub will be amazing to greet you coming up the drive.

My yard is deer heavy and they don’t eat my 4 Weigelas. You are right about bees and hummers, they hang out a lot on the bushes. I am in zone 4 and I trim them after the first flowers have faded. A month later I get more blooms.

it's a beautiful plant! sidenote: we have tons of deer. dealing w/ the deer has been beyond heartbreaking with all the damage.. in a new build.. NOT one thing grew except catmint & some grasses. deer proof plants don't exist for they eat everything. we actually deer fenced last year & NOW things are growing.. it's amazing the difference!

I know where to plant these beautiful little ones ! I've had a place saved in my New "Cottage" garden . Thanks to you and Proven Winners I am becoming a Woman of Creativity and Color that I missed putting pen to pad years ago. I feel so brand new in my " new dirty skin , hand tools and pointy shovels. Hi, greetings from Czech Republic! :-) Lovely plant, really! Good choice ,-). I will have to explore better our garden centers as I´ve never seen this Weigela here. I have 2 plants of Weigela florida 'Victoria' in my garden and I can confirm these are beautiful plants that don´t need to be cared, just a little cut after blowing. I LOVE this plant! I have one that goes from white to violet to blue. I'm glad to learn the botanical name because all I've ever know is " Yesterday, today, and tomorrow" because of the way it changes colors, I guess. so, thank you for that. Love the plant specific videos! Keep it up! Could you do a weeding video? We are high desert as well in E Washington with silt/loam soil so I love watching your videos but not sure how you manage it all? Is the goal to cover most of the ground with plants to fight the weeds? What about snakes in and around everything? We have lots of bull snakes and a few rattlers every once and awhile. You ever get surprised by them?

Wow! So beautiful! I was just gonna ask about roughing up the root ball and you already answered my question haha thank you! I live in Puerto Rico, zone 13 (i believe)!!
