Excellent show! Thank you for sharing. I am watching it from the US and found it to be informative and objective. As a Chinese, I am proud to see the Motherland is doing well and love seeing the younger generations Chinese being confident and assertive!

it's fine if you are a country with a vast economy to back up your assertiveness, but I have seen far too many times that when someone try to be assertive in a dispute with the English, it never ended well for them. never ever in all my years of dispute resolution have I seen a single person winning a dispute by being overly assertive. The other side always takes a defensive stance, and any potential progress will bog down. On the other hand with my non adversarial approach, it works like a charm. My honest advice to fellow overseas Chinese is that when in dispute or negotiation, be empathetic first and foremost, followed by politically correctness, make your tone seem neutral , asking rather than demanding, avoid using pronouns like you, and this is by no means an exhaustive list of things I do, but it'll give you a taster and hopefully it'll save you a few quid as well ;)

@@wenliu5051 Please allow me to highlight a few of your responses: “Being assertive in a dispute with the English never ended well”, “My honest advice….”, “works like charm” You apparently do not know the what you are talking about and clearly a legend of your own mind! Based on what you said, you are in no position to provide anyone with advice!

@@thomaslee2783 Thanks for your reply, you have provided a prime example of what not to do in a negotiation, namely being assertive out of spite and jumping to conclusions without any merits. This is exactly why so many students lost out on unfair deposit reductions. They made it too personal, too emotionally charged for the other side to compromise. Sometimes they have been fighting for 6 months to a year without any success, whereas I go about it using the non adversarial approach and solved the problems in a matter days to both side's acceptance. You don't need to know my approach perhaps you are retired and not renting, but others could certainly benefit from my help, dozens and dozens people have, last year alone I saved the Chinese students in the UK close to £7000.
