what's crazy is that not only are they as fast as in the anime, but they have the same reflexes. I thought it was a little exaggerated how the characters would make crosses and different movements according to the order of syllables they hear, but I saw all those same things in this video. Guilty as charged, as I'm just another newly minted Chihayafuru fanboy, 11 or so episodes into that show's 1st season and loving it. I wouldn't have known this game existed if not for that. Amazing how anime can get one exposed to things outside their everyday surroundings. I don't think I have the mental capacity for this type of memorization, nor quickness for competitive karuta though. This was fascinating and fun to watch. Those two ladies are insanely FAST! Woah! Came here on the first season of Chihayafuru, that's how good it was, highly recommended, still this game is really awesome, requires enormous amounts of focus, stamina and dedication, respect to the players.
