It's lovely to see Jim so enthusiast about the strings and everything that goes into them. That's why D'Addario is the best string brand there is. You can buy a set of strings today, tomorrow, after a year or after a decade and it's still the same quality. You don't have to adjust your guitar's neck or setup since the strings are the same. So consistent... top quality stuff. And once you listen to and watch Jim explain everything you realize why D'Addario is the most consistent even-quality set after a set. In-house production from the bottom to the top... laser-measuring, whole nine yards. Awesome! Happy XL and NYXL (ab)user here... since 1992. I have tested tens and dozens of other but never found better than D'Addario.

I used to use GHS Boomers and Dean Markley strings. I have recently switched to D'Addario strings. Let me tell you, I noticed the brightness in the D'Addario set right away. Much brighter and they do last a lot longer. I am currently using the Round wound Nickel Wound 10-46 set and I am sticking with D'Addario from now on. I have yet to try out the NYXL and have heard a lot about them. Excellent video !!!

Idk man they Ernie Balls feel better and they bend easier. I took my guitar to a Luther today and he was sure my guitar has 11s on when it's actually 10s D'Addarios. I guess I'm gonna try 9s from them. They should feel like 10 Ernie's

@@chrisking6695 maybe normal dadarrio XL. But no earnie balls can touch nyxl. I used earnie ball for 15 years and had tuning issues and strings going dull sounding fast until I tried nyxl. I hated normal dadarrio XL. But nyxl is incredible. Makes earnie ball seem like trash in comparison

I definitely wish the nyxl were cheaper. Im spending 20 bucks a set for my 7 and 8 string guitars. Nyxl are so good id pay twice that if I had to. Normal XL strings suck but nyxl are the best. I spent 20 years experimenting getting different sets and brands and tried nyxl one day. Never looked back

@@preston2636 I find normal XL strings pretty good too, because I only use Balanced Tension sets. But NYXL last so much longer and the benefits outweigh the cost for me.

I very much enjoyed this. Impressive shop. I still find SIT , laBella and Stringjoy to be a much better string overall domestically, and Optima and Pyramid to be better for overseas brands. I used d'addario exclusively for a long time until I tried the other brands I mentioned and then couldn't go back. I just purchased a set of d'Addario NYXL bass strings, so I will give it another try...

My D’addario strings broke after one and a half year. Ernie Ball ones broke after 6 months. Also, the guitar wasn’t tuned in like 4 months and still maintained the tuning perfectly. Truly D’addario are the best ones.

They should expand the catalogue w/ really thin wound strings such as .010w etc (like Octave4Plus did) because an All Wound String set would sound more balanced.

Impressive. But idk. Not the best sounding strings. They should do more with that tech honestly. Although the Nickle bronze are a nice option. But theory phosphor is really rough for all the tech. The sound is always good. I will admit they're consistent but very ordinary with alot of brashness when nee.

Guys, don't fool yourself, you don't need high carbon steel. String wire gets its hardness from the drawing process, not the tempering. Use a good magnetic stainless steel.

@@ravendemo4980 there pretty much is a definite way to say it. The name is the contracted form of 'di Addario' (meaning 'son of Addario'). The name is typically seen in one of three spellings: 1. The full name 'di Addario'. This would be pronounced Dee Addario. 2. D'Addario - as in the string family. The apostrophe means the 'ee' sound is silent, but people tend to hint at the gap giving DuhAddario (with the Duh being very short and the emphasis on the Ad.) 3. The modernised version Daddario, which drops the apostrophe. This moves the emphasis to the first and third D, so becomes DuhDario. So all three pronunciations are correct, and many people with the surname mix and match the spelling to the sounding. It's therefore down to how the family pronounce their name. D'addario pronounce it DuhDario.

nyxl worst strings ever never stay in tune and go dull and black too fast. Every other company string on my guitars are excellent never again nyxl, regular daddario xls are fine

I bought a set of DAddario light acoustic strings recently. I was not happy, the high E Ringlet slipped off the string during a routine replacement of strings on my acoustic guitar. I complained via their website and the company said that it is normal for all manufacturers to experience this problem. They offered to send me a replacement as their solution to the issue. Great! Here's your string and here's the door. Don't call us we'll call you. A search on google revealed that people have reported the same problem as far back as 2006.. I suppose if I dug deeper that I would find that the issue goes back even further than 2006. Sam Ash....if you are pushing D'Addario, you need to reconsider their quality. I started using their strings back in 1975, maybe even earlier. They were reliable low end strings that worked for me. But there is NO EXCUSE for a ringlet failure on ANY string by ANY manufacturer. I won't be buying from them anymore. Strings should be 100% dependable...no matter how little they cost. Any manufacturer of guitar strings who think an occasional failure is acceptable should not be seen in the same stores on the same shelves as the other manufacturers who have a zero tolerance for the same defects.

Have fun with other crappy manufacturers, daddario are the best and the most reliable there is. Seems like anecdotal evidence considering the astoundingly low numbers of complaints. 1 failure since 1975 is a good track record.

@@mackk123 I would have to agree if I was using them for all of those years. I had a 25 year hiatus. And that changes the numbers significantly. A quick google search will support my complaint in any case.
