Nice review. Strings are hard to do that with, but Tom always makes it entertaining and informative.

I'm one of those guitar players you mentioned with the acidic pH. I'll give these a shot, but they are much more expensive and I'd be willing to bet it's a wash in regards to expense between these and just buying cheaper strings and changing more often. I typically use Ernie or D'Addario and buy in bulk.

Always worth trying out. They get the thumbs up from us anyway.

According to their website the XT's are a little mellower than the XL's and the NYXL's are a little brighter. Seems correct to my ears from this demo.

My guitar came with Daddario XTAPB1253 .012 - .053 But the first time I played them I had black stains on my finger tips ...... are they suppose to do that ? I mean they are coated aren't they ?

Happened with me .... And while I was playing, the same day I changed them after an hour it started to discolor. They sound good. But still I guess I was hoping for more. They were XT 80/20 12-53 strings.

What pick?

Actually the XT Strings are improved versions of the EXP Strings where all the Strings are now coated

Most of the sets. Definately not all. For example: I prefer XL110BT - or in NYXL that's NYXL1046BT. There's no XTE1045BT so far. Come on, people, get on the Balanced Tension train, so they will standardise it!

I just put these on and they could easily be one of the worst strings I've tried yet. The lower strings are ATROCIOUS, E and A sound like the inside of a tin can. I have never heard such a horrible low end. Over 10$ for this???
