I like how you said "you can only ride these horses where you can ride them." That's a great tip for staying safe while working through things (:

Thank you and yes if we try to hold them or force them into doing what they don’t want to do it can easily become dangerous.

Ray Hunt's first principle of horse training - - - "Make the right thing easy and the wrong thing difficult (but not impossible)". - - - I think it is important to note that Ray intentionally used the word 'difficult'. He never used the word 'Hard'. You are one of the best I've seen in exhibiting this critical difference in a clear and obvious way.

That is the best compliment that I have ever gotten ! Ray Hunt was one of my favorite mentors.

Great advice for the horse who is being removed from the rest. I've done this very thing and it worked quickly and efficiently. However, if I ride out with one, the other horse that's left behind is a different story. The one left behind goes nuts, running a speedy shuttle back and forth, screaming until we return. I've had my wife handle the horse to get its focus on herself, and that works but only as long as she is with the horse. As soon as the horse is left alone, he/ she has a meltdown. Blessings, and thank you.

You might find a lot of benefit in tying the one you leave behind high and on a swivel. She is still going to fret but it won’t be quite as dramatic as when she is loose . It might take several days of this to make any difference

You and I worked on one, like that at a show. You told me it took guts later to stay there, and keep going. Never forgot that.

But what if you aint experience enough to canter. Will a trot work?
@cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing4 ай бұрын
Yes anyway you can increase the work level when they are doing what you don’t want and make it easier to do what you want . How you get there is up to your level of competence. It just might take a bit longer but the end result will be the same
