The best fiend I've ever designed was a demonic blacksmith who forges weapons and armor for the Blood War, but does so by using a forge within which burns an eternal, green flame. This flame is the physical manifestation of the lifeforce of a long-dead archfey of fire. The archfey took an elven bride when he was alive, creating a bloodline which ends currently at my character, Zenrich Alphonso Darius Esquire III. His power technically comes from his own bloodline, from the eternal flame, but it is channeled to him through this demonic patron so that the full power doesn't burn his spirit to ash. The demon tends to Zen just as he tends to the flame, for if one were to go out, the other would be snuffed out as well.

At first I was like yeah this is already overcomplicated, bloodlines and archfeys taking brides, but by the end I was like naaaa I love it. Nice kinda symbiotic relation going on there. Fantastic stuff.

I’m currently playing a tiefling who was BORN into a pact with Asmodeus. This is my first character so my rping isnt too good lol. Her backstory is that one of her ancestors took part in the ritual in the Empire of Bael Turath, and as part of his contract, signed his entire bloodline into service. My character has lived her life watching her family be torn apart by the contract, and so sets out to find a way to end the pact. (Going through hell and back literally if she has too). Although Ive kind of screwed my character over by accepting Asmodeus’ offers of help XD. We can now say that our barbarian survived a god attack. Got hit by the god spell while riding a beholder and fell a good couple feet

Had a similar idea but on the opposite end, a willing participant and family lineage of devil cultists/worshippers, with family members who successfully became devils after their deaths, and keep watch on their offspring etc..
@jgr74875 жыл бұрын
your family has made a pact with a Devil long long ago, and they have postponed the service they were due to the Fiend by just saying "not today" to their emissary. the player is an *Int 8 character* who just didn't say the words she was supposed to say (not today), so she has to fulfil a chore that has been being put off for millennia!

My warlock is one that made a pact with a fiend demonic cat named mewcifur from the nine hells. One of the costs for power was turning into a 4ft tall cat with silver hair that worships my patron every day by pouring a saucer of milk to the ground.

One of my first 5e characters I made was a fiend warlock, but I never really got a chance to flesh out her patron. As a child she grew up in a secluded commune and was offered as a human sacrifice to ensure their continued prosperity. Preying in her desperation, the fiend tricked her into a contract and granted her the power to burn the commune to the ground. I still haven’t decided what the fiend is or what it gets out of this deal.

I made a Tiefling warlock who works in human resources in hell (which has been become more business orientated to get souls more efficiently) whose come to the Mortal plane to collect on a client who violated the terms of their Contract. She Works for Dispater who is running a vast amount of Companies on the Prime Material Plane. She gets her power through Dispater and is approved and forwarded by her boss.

I feel that the possibility of fiends other than baatezu and tanar'ri - such as yugoloths, obyriths, night hags, and rarer stuff - should have been mentioned more. Arcanoloths are quite a natural choice for fiendish patrons, actually - there are plenty of quite interesting personalities of their kind running around the planes, and they are known to make deals as much as devils. Others would certainly have their niches too, maybe quite unlike those you would assume of an Archfiend warlock.

I don't play D&D any more. Not for lack of wanting to! Its just a matter of not having the budget to buy a lot of books at $50 and more, each, for a game that I'll likely not play much, where I live. There is a group that meets to play at a local book store, and Id love if the DM would make use of some NPCs that Ive created, over the years. Theyd just need tk be updated to current version. The dream role for me to play in a campaign, would be to come play as Demon Lords, Arch Dukes, or whatever, and other Big Bads! Im savage as Hell! So, there wouldn't be players in my area, bragging about how they took down a Red Great Wyrm at with a party of the average level being 10 or less! In my opinion, dragon's, and evils from the Outter Planes, should never be remotely close to easy for any party to defeat. I have a Ancient Red Dragon, who has some serious levels as a ice/water based sorcerer, that I made years ago! He is also loaded with some powerful magical items, including a Ring of Polymorph, that was altered, and grafted under his scales, with a few others.. As well as a ancient Gold Dragon Dracolich, who was seduced and corrupted, by Tiamat, before dying and being reborn, in his current form.. With that being said, Im itching to play a few games as a Warlock with a powerful, but obscure Infernal Patron. Or even a Succubus who ascended to the rank of Demon Lord. Her layer of the Abyss would be more or less, a massive palace/temple, and miles and miles of fountains and gardens! Maybe even enough worshippers to put her at Lesser God status!

How well does a Pact of the Fiend Warlock do in "into Avernuce?"
@gagetaylor545 жыл бұрын
I made a Dwarf Warlock, pact of the fiend, named Vinny. A hill dwarf who stole weapons to sell them as a living, and one day, he got caught while stealing from a temple of Moradin. The night before he was to be killed, an Ultroloth who had been observing his skills offered him life in exchange for making profit on his behalf, so Vinny accepted. His unique mechanic in the game was that, according to the pact, he would receive a new cursed magical weapon or object every month and have to sell it to some unfortunate soul to be enslaved by the ultrolth, who then in turn gives Vinny his powers and the ability to buy some of his yugoloths. The big shtick of this character is that in tough situations where more help was needed, Vinny would summon some sort of yugoloth, and being basically an Italian Mobster, he’d always say to the party before hiring one, “Listen, I knows a guy who coulds help us.”

I finished reading The Last Mythal trilogy, and Malkizid is in it. *Spoilers**Spoilers**Spoilers* Malkizid is no longer in Faerun, as of 1374 DR. Also, at that time, he wasn't turning elves against each other (except for a pocket of surface drow), rather he was using daemonfey and fey'ri against elves. But yeah, historically, he turned elves against each other.

Warning! This is a VERY long message!.) One time there was a fiend patron warlock I made who served Mephistopheles, and basically my warlock (Who was actually a wizlock) signed a contract with an imp so she could get more power. And in the contract, my dm had it so that there was an orb that Mephistopheles could watch me through. Mephistopheles chose to send the imp to me specifically as I was young and naive, I was sent across the land to kill multiple people, and I had to show him that I killed the targets, and after I killed someone I had to say his name aloud. She was a really neat wizlock to play. She found the imp when she was on her room studying, where she then did the stuff yadda yadda, where then she left from home to accomplish her tasks. And as we leveled up, the dm was creative enough to change the forgotten realms based on my actions, he basically had Mephistopheles eat asmodeus’ heart where then the pact primeval was changed by this death and the nine hells turned into one layer where Mephistopheles ruled over all and he killed the rest of the archdevils and gained their power and when he ate asmodeus’ heart he gained his divinity witch gave him even MORE power where Mephistopheles then killed Orcus, Demogorgon, and grazz’t (I don’t know how to spell his name) and he consumed them aswell, where the nine hells started rebreaking into layers and returned to its original state, except there was only one archdevil to rule, and the blood war was put to a stop. Due to this chaos, the material plane was gaining more and more warlocks giving Mephistopheles more power and then his cult grew HUGE and devils frequently were coming out of the nine hells. I helped him write this cause it was a lot. Anyway sorry for making such a long post 😅 anyway I thought I would tell you cause why not

i had a blue abishai patron for one player. The player's lover was accused of practicing Eldrich rituals and was executed by the townfolk who didn't fully understand what that meant. The player was than offered the chance at power needed to take revenge in exchange for finding knowledge. In the second arc of the campaign the party came across an assassin who not only had the same arcane foci of the warlock but also could stop the warlocks spells at will. It was reviled in an epic fight involving the assassin, a dragon, a kraken, and a solar (lot of stuff happened that session lol) that the assassin framed the warlocks lover and spurred his demise at the behest of the assassins patron, a blue abishai. The same abishai the warlock player was bound too. The abishai tried too coax the lover into a pact but he declined and feeling scorned he had him killed and trapped his soul in the foci that the warlock player was using.

I’m making a Fiend warlock for my groups next campaign; his patron is archdevil who is also his wife. They met years ago when she entered the material plane in a way to spite her father, but ended up befriending the warlock, she continued to visit him and they eventually fell in love and married. her father disapproves of the union, he prevents her from entering the material plane and tells the warlock that his soul will not be strong enough to revive in the nine hells as anything but the lowest of devils. But the love between them is strong, the Warlock seeks to become great and powerful so that, when he dies, he will be able to stand by his wife’s side. The Archdevil tries to help him by giving him power, not even her father’s barrier could fully hold back her powerful magic. Now they are trying to break her father’s hold from both sides, so they could be reunited again

No love for Daemons? (Yugoloths if you're the kind of boring person who calls Demons Tanar'ri) Notable Altraloths (Artisanal tricked out Daemons who've gotten spinning rims, underglow, and Archdevil/Demon Lord level powers from Night Hag covens) Notable Altraloths include the General of Gehenna (Not a traditional Altraloth, but instead the souped up prototype proof of concept for all Daemons who followed) Anthraxus the lord of disease, and Charon the lord of the river Styx are all pretty cool even if 5E has mostly ignored their lore.
