I'm surprised no mention of Olympus. Before Arborea was called Arborea in Planescape, it was Olympus; and even in Planescape, the Elven Pantheon still split the plane with the Greek Gods (hence the Bacchae and Satyrs and the like being there). 3rd edition though pushed the "real world" mythological pantheons out of the Great Wheel cosmology for the most part.
@Wildstag7 жыл бұрын
In 3.5, the Beastlands were the home of the mortal Outsider race known as Wildren, which were the descendants of dwarf petitioners (yeah, that makes sense) that have become very badger-like in their time on the plane, and especially their home on Karasuthra. Also, consider playing a talking animal from the Beastlands if you want to incorporate them! It's the perfect chance to play a Narnia-esque character!

I was actually thinking about this. The Revised Ranger (Unearthed Arcana) beast master summons their beast companion with a ritual so it would make a lot of sense if the companion came from the Beastlands. There could be an interesting quest to visit the homelands of the companion to fulfill a deeper bond etc.

I remember reading that Mt. Olympus is in Arborea, and that the mountain has a path to Hades, though I don't know how that would work. It would be cool if a party could only make it to Elysium, then took Oceanus to Arborea, scaled down to Hades to save a few souls before making it back home.

linguistically oversight 86 That’s odd. There is no good aligned god of the hunt except for one Elven deity in the Realms. Solonor Thelandria. The only other god of hunting is Malar, but he is an evil beast god of hunting.

I wish Arborea had a more iconic race. Chaotic evil Abyss? Demons! Lawful evil Hell? Devils! Lawful good Celestia? Angels! ...I mean, Archons! Chaotic good Arborea...? Eh... Bacchae? Not versatile enough. Eladrin? They're just elves! (Sometimes fairies.) Angels? You can find those anywhere! Just seems a little imbalanced.
@Runsten_3 жыл бұрын
Perhaps they could be Divine Elves. At least the DMG states that the elves in Arborea are considered Celestials. So now we should just come up with a unique name for a divine elf, and that could be the characteristic race.
@joshuac51913 жыл бұрын
I mean, it's elf heaven and the realm of the primary elven deity. I think it might be odd if there were something else special there other than eladrin

I completely agree. However these Elves are Celestial if that helps. To help distinguish them from other Elfs when I brought this up in a Pathfinder game, I gave them the Half-Celestial Template just to put my own mind at ease.

Stronmaus, Chaotic(Neutral) Good Greater God of Storm and Cloud Giants lives in the Beastlands. He is a fairly major power. Also from the Forgotten Realms deities, there is Milil, god of bards and music; trying to think off the top of my head but those are two that come to mind.

In the 3.0 / 3.5 edition of D&D, specifically in the Epic Level Handbook, there was a template called Paragon. It had a +18 level adjustment because it is so powerful. If one wanted to make stats for one of The Beast Lords, you could first scale them up one or more size categories, and then add that template to make a TRULY dangerous animal.

Just wanted to let you know Bacchae is pronounced Bock-kigh, like the composer Bach. It would be so cool to build a campaign around encounters with the Bacchae! In earth mythology (not sure about D&D!) the Bacchae were worshipers of the greek/Roman God Bacchus. While he eventually became a party god, he originated as a god of madness with strong ties to death and rebirth. Over the centuries he developed a trickster persona and was eventually fully transformed into a god of celebrations and wine by Alexander the Great. Theres a play by Euripides called "The Bacchae" that describes the worshipers in their chaotic and murder-y form. It's truly terrifying, and you should read it!

May not sound like much but it adds up the more audio books you create. Independent authors and narrators are just trying to get their names and stories out there plus build themselves a resume.
