D&D Miniature Haul

Unboxing my latest gaming haul from my FLGS. In today's shopping spree I picked up lots of miniatures, including WizKids Dungeons & Dragons Icons of the Realms Warband line, Onslaught expansions, and Encounter in a Box sets.

I 100% agree with wanting multiples of common and military miniatures. I want armies as well. And if Wizkids want to save money, they can repaint some townspeople.

I use both 2d and 3d in my D&D, for sake of character weight; My masses of goblins, kobolds, general fodder, will be 2d, Until there comes a time one of the 2d becomes a major char (nemesis) then they graduate to a 3d. Same with all Townsfolk, guard etc. When an NPC graduates to a level it would cost the PC's to lose them, the figure gets swapped to a 3d figure. This works for my budget, storage, and in-game quick story reference. Of course all BBEG are 3d.

Really gotta get Onslaught and those warbands. Also have you looked at some of the Epic Encounters? I got the Undead one (Arena of the Undead Horde) those have TONS of undead in what your asking about with like those warbands

I haven't, as cool as they look, only because they're unpainted! I know undead are probably the simplest minis to paint, but you know me, all about the prepaints.

I bought some of the 2D D&D standees, and I found that they are just pictures of the actual #D miniatures, and the colors are pretty dark, with details hard to see. I have been collecting Dungeon in a Box stuff for about 6 months now and their Skinny Minis, which are actual artwork, much more vibrant colors and much easier to see details. Comparing the two, I would go with Skinny Minis.
