Any advice for keeping campaigns funny while also keeping the players focused? I'm currently DMing a party of 9 people, so I usually just play with whoever is able to make it. (Usually 2-4 players) But almost all of them have the attention spans of 2-year-olds (in an endearing way) so it's hard to keep them focused, and I can't do a campaign off of someone's backstory EVERY time! I tried just doing the Dragon of Icespike Peak campaign, but no one was interested, or able to get invested in the story so it just devolved into chaos. We're all relatively new to dnd, and this is my first time DMing though I've played in campaigns in the past. Trust me, the campaigns are HILARIOUS, but I just wish sometimes we could take it serious and really get into the story. (You're all a big inspiration to me btw, and one of the main reasons I started DMing) :D

Why does watching funny moments videos make me want to play as an Irish/Scottish accented Sprite that hates when people call them a Fairy or Pixie and assumes everyone is being racist to him just because he’s small, has wings, lives in the enchanted forest with a beetle and slug for neighbors and has a house made out of an oak tree. Also gets very angry when people are within 20 feet of his property but because some lumberjack didn’t check if the house had any tiny windows or doors he has to go on a journey to find a new home that he’s comfortable with that will definitely not be destroyed between each session because of some random accident.

Why isn’t there an anime based on a group of people playing DND. Just that. It’s half action packed sword battles and pirate excapades and the other half just kids and guys in suits going about their lives until the next session. Sometimes one of them can’t make it because work got crazy or another gets in a car accident getting a fracture in one of their arms and a mild concussion where the rest of the crew decide to hold a session in the hospital room their friend is so they can still be part of the team. Why am I so good at coming up with scenarios?
