What if the player trapped in the jar had copper pieces with them? Would it count since they are technically IN the jar? I can easily imagine my players overthinking this one HAHAHAHA.
@WallyDM

lol! Oh my goodness, I never contemplated that scenario. What a great question. I'm not sure, but I think I'd have to listen to the player's reasoning. If they came up with 100 + Trapped PCs copper, I'd give it to them. You are right though, I can see players doing this. lol.

Hey Wally, great video as always! This is the only one I've ever figured out right away. As a long time fan of your channel. This is actually episode #101. You have two #7's then the next video is #8. Thanks Wally you have a wonderful day!

Hey there Matt! Hope you are doing good, my friend. I'm glad you liked the puzzle. I have already written this one and it will be in my next book as well. Also, thank you for the reminder on the thumbnails. Puzzle #6 has a thumbnail that says 7. Or perhaps... its a clue to a 4th wall puzzle? Haha, cheers, buddy!

Yay! It's good to hear that you enjoyed the first book. Book #2 is complete and I am waiting for the proof of the print on demand copy to arrive. As long as the proof is good, I should be publishing the second journal sometime this month. If I need to make corrections, it might take a bit longer. Be sure to stay tuned to my channel, as I will make an announcement when its ready. Also, I have to say that I am extremely excited for book 2. If you enjoyed the first one, book 2, I believe, is even better. Thank you for your support and reaching out with a comment, I appreciate it. :-) On to the next!

Hey Wally! Congrats on Puzzle #100 and what a good one it was! I loved the puzzle and the fact that there is a nice twist in the end about what they do with the coins...I would probably be a good DM and just give my players the ability to turn to gold anything they touch ;) Also, I noticed that the Gold, Silver and Cooper coins used have your face! Nice little detail lol Also...Thank you for the memorable and iconic Easter egg in the end! It was the perfect way to end puzzle #100! The road to 200 starts now! On to the next!

Hello, my friend. I'm glad that you liked the way this came out. I found the old introduction screen and the image of brown hooded wally on an old hard drive. Can't believe I still had it! lol. Thank you for the idea, it would have been a missed opportunity to not include those. And, ah yes, the coins. I created those for a Round Table - Does D&D need Copper pieces thumbnail. So, it was cool to use them again. I've had some great comments on those. Glad you liked the puzzle. And 200? Sure thing, lol. One video at a time. Thank you for being on this journey with me..... On to the next!

Way to go to 100. IF they actually would go thru with giving all the platinum to the needy, I would give them an mild urge to return the jar. If they return there will be 100 pouches with various sizes and various amounts of coins/gems in them containing 200-300gp value. each character may only choose 1 and only those characters that were in the vault originally may choose. If they choose not to go, the jar will disappear after 100 hours.
@WallyDM
@WallyDM Жыл бұрын
I like this idea, absolutely. I think seeing this puzzle all the way through to giving away the platinum is well worth the reward. I would probably give powerful magic items to my players if they played through the scenario. Thank you, Craig. On to the next...... 100 videos. Haha!

Question; what happens if all the party members are obstinate and end up inside the jar together? TPK seems a bit extreme/anticlimactic.
@davebolinger7453
@davebolinger7453 Жыл бұрын
I would have a combat readied in case that happens. Perhaps the apperation with animate objects casted and uses the coins. It in turn will dodge and misty step around (at least against lower levels, go full caster if higher). Once the party defeats it, they break free with the jar, statues, and apperation gone without a trace.
@WallyDM
@WallyDM Жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, oh, absolutely. I would not want any puzzle to ever turn into a TPK. I would recommend that the "extradimensional space" take the characters to a different plane of existence. Perhaps a world where coins are plentiful? Perhaps the Nine Hells? Regardless, give them a session or two to fight their way home with plenty of combat options and exploration. The puzzle, in my mind, is something set up by a minor deity, so perhaps the deity is testing them and continues to do so? Hope this helps!

Great ideas here Dave, for sure. If a party is intent on smashing things, give them something to smash. 100%.

If I was a player and this replaced what I expected to be a treasure hoard, I'd be pretty disappointed, even with a "correct" answer. It's a cool puzzle for a different context though.
@WallyDM
@WallyDM Жыл бұрын
As a player, I get that, absolutely. For me as a DM, if the players ride out the puzzle all the way through the "correct" answer, this would lead them to an equally valuable reward. Let's say they help a village. I'd then have the village elder approach them with magic items letting them know that they have had these for centuries and the prophecy foretold such kindness and to give these items to those that helped in this way. But yeah, as with all of my puzzles they are simply a foundation for the DM to build on. I love seeing how folks would alter these ideas to make them fit to their games and their players style. Thank you @dirtywhitellama, for the conversation. :-) Cheers!

Thank you David! And, for those finding my channel, watching all 100 is a daunting task. Needless to say, some of the older ones are really drawn out and could definitely benefit from a new video, reboot or remake. I don't remember why I stopped including the numbers on the thumbnails. I think I read somewhere that having episode numbers decreased clickability on thumbnails. But, who knows. Anyways, thank you for being a subscriber to the channel. I appreciate you being here. Cheers!

@@WallyDM I could see that numbers decrease viewing; sort of implies some sort of continuity in the content. And they're all stand-alone rather than episodes, and since some are more "trap-y" and some are more "puzzle-y" and some more "riddle-y", makes sense to not keep a rolling count. :-)

Congrats on 100! I recently grabbed your first volume, and can't wait to start implementing some more devious bits on my nerds. (And after another recent video of yours I grabbed Esper's book as well!) Can't wait to see what the next one has in store! And because I always have to look for the thing now... I'm not 100% sure, but was Cubby on the top right behind that coin jar as you rolled it across the screen?

Oh nice, thank you for picking up my Journal of Puzzle Encounters book, Tom (and Esper's too). I'm curious to know which puzzle from the book that you (and your players) enjoyed the most. I can't wait to share book 2 with everyone along with the Puzzles/Traps that will be in the Quintessential Guide to Monster Encounters. I have my work cut out for me, for sure. lol. And, nope, the Owlbear cub is closer to the front of the video, right after the Monster Encounter promo. You had the location correct, but if you blink, you'll miss him. He's very well hidden this time, lol. Cheers!

As a GM, I'd be fine with the casting of a greater restoration spell, or perhaps a few good deeds will do the trick. But its totally up to the game master on this one and how they want to run it. My videos are always just ideas that I encourage game masters to build on and make it their own. :-) . Thank you for watching. Cheers!
