My Father drove a Scots Highland division into the last stand at Arras in 1940 on the retreat to Dunkirk. He siad that they changed into kilts, bare steel and Bagpipes and went into battle with Highland yells. He did not know how close the Germans were to them, and it was the only time he saw the germans run, when the Scors charged with bayonets and Claymors shining. Most of them never made it home.

Im in Toledo, Ohio the home of Willys overland Quad 4x4/ later to be called the Jeep first developed in November 1940. My grandfather was there at Normandy with the United States Navy as a Higgins boat operator. God Bless America's greatest Generation and foreign allied troops they will not be forgotten for their sacrifice and Heroism in the World's darkest but most Victorious hour. I will never forget this day. My father landed on Sword Beach. He survived and moved on with his company. Proud of you dad for your service to your country and to the world in the name of freedom. Bugger those idiots in England pulling down statues of Churchill and calling him a racist. If the British Commonwealth had not fought Germany alone for two years you would not be free now! Churchill was a mine for those times, as was my father❤

God bless your father, and thank God he survived. Your view of the Second World War comes from some intense allied propaganda that has been spouted ever since that horrific war ended. We should never have fought Germany. They would have left us alone. Germany didn't want war with us. The Second World War was a banker's war, and the notion that so many brave men died for our 'freedom' is a big fat lie that has festered in the minds of the post war generations.

I remember Donald Trump calling US Armed Forces "suckers" who died for nothing at Arlington National Cemetery. He didn't want to honor the men who gave their lives fighting for freedom because it was raining. I never thought I would be compelled to contact our National Public Radio about the most disgraceful thing I ever heard that was presented as a commemoration of Dec 7th 1941. The content/message of the Pearl Harbor piece made me stop my car on the side of the road as I tried to sort out what I had just heard. First : Was the narrator was Australian? New Zealander? South African? What news source wrote and produced this? What was their purpose? Second: Three points were made about the US being attacked by a nation bent on conquering all Asia and the Pacific Basin. 1.) American citizens of Japanese ancestry were interned unjustly. 2.) America is responsible for inventing the atomic bomb and using it. 3.)These two bombs made by the United States are responsible for the Cold War and the Nuclear Arms Race. 75 - 80 million people's deaths were brought about by fascist dictators Adolph Hitler. Benito Mussolini, and Emperor Hirohito between 1930-1945. Joseph Stalin alone contributed enormously to this death toll between 1924 to 1953 all on his own hook.. I consider myself a liberal and a Democrat. So you are not hearing from a flag waving nationalist. But this mauling of history and cherry picking of material is execrable. And yet someone at National Public Radio picked it to air on December 7th 2022. You have lost my support forever.

When they got to shore, they used their helmets filled with sand and somehow got water, heated it, and was the first relief b4 they started fighting the Germans again.
