To be fair, it was a very good depiction both for material culture (though some inaccuracies) and for more emotional things. The film came as a culture shock and innovated the way war movies are made, not just that disturbing things happened because they sure did in older movies too, but the way they were filmed made them very real and horrific. The steadycam increased immersion too. Many WWII vets said the film was very accurate; many had to leave because it was a bit too real.

As for Soviet guns, there are way too many of them in German hands. While many of the Germans at Normandy were previously on the Eastern Front, very few of them brought Soviet guns because they were useless without propper ammunition against the Americans and British. Nearly half of the enemies in this game carry the PPSH-41 and SVT-40.

Okay, while I love this video, because I am obsessed with German uniforms and other stuff, gonna list some inaccuracies here. The Germans with the field caps had an Eagle on the side, which was exclusive to Waffen SS. And if they were Waffen SS, they would not have Army collar patches. Also seemingly half the soldiers seem to be NCOs (To be specific, Staff Sergeants for the US and regular Sergeants for the UK), which while not impossible is a bit weird considering the requirements a soldier needs to become a NCO, and how NCOs are meant be essentially be squad leaders. In fact they kinda look like officer cadets since the white line at the bottom of their shoulder straps seems to be a loop added over the strap (Screen freeze 9:30) which again while not impossible is highly unlikely. Also said NCOs do not have ‘Tressen’, which is a white outline of the lower half of the collar, though they do have it on their shoulder straps which is how I identify them as NCOs. Also the German helmets should not have the tri-color shield, as all instances were painted over during 1940 under high command’s orders. Sorry if this was long, but I have always been particular about these things.

It would be too heavy and don't forget with just their equipment they still drown so bringing a shield is still a death wish

1: too heavy to carry. 2: too expensive to have Shields for every single soldier,metal was a rare and Precious resource. 3: fairly ineffective because just like with armor bullets would go straight through a normal shield in most occasions,and a shield will slow you down making you an easier target. These reasons are mainly why armor and shields stopped existing all together after a certain point in which Guns became a thing

0:44 I don’t understand how Pierson, Turner, Stiles, Zussman, Aielo and Daniel’s survived. When the boat collided everyone died and they were all trapped and I saw that only 4 of them managed to leave the boat without dying. How could there be still hundreds of soldiers who managed to complete d day alive if we saw thousands of them dying in this killing field. You are safe no where in this beach when there is cannon bombing the beach and MG42 shooting at everyone. 7:09 Poor American when they managed to breach the dike they just all die. Only one was able to kill all of them and there is a huge mountain of dead. The only one who can’t die are Turner, Zussman, Pierson, Aielo and Stiles but all the other NPC dies. I wonder how the American win in the end of this battle if we saw like thousands of them getting killed in the beach. It’s impossible to progress the game if the player is not here. It takes like many minutes to be able to kill all the German and the ennemis. Anyway it could also take hours or never to progress.
