The divers' physiques evidence long hours of training put in to their sport...but from the execution of the dives - PARTICULARLY the manner in which they enter the water - it is clear the main requirement for this competition is to be slightly (at least) off one's rocker. i salute them!

What the heck is this sport? We used to do this in the 1980’s off the high dive boards at the public pool to show off for the girl lifeguards! I used to arch my back, grab my ankles, and ride it down to the very last moment; and then bend forward touching my toes at impact. Who woulda thunk...

@superbarnie4 жыл бұрын
@@realtoast7036 You are taking an incomplete understanding of physics and trying to apply it to this scenario in a flawed manner. This myth that "everything falls equally quickly according to Newton" is a lie that is perpetuated by middle school science teachers who are dumbing down the science for stupid kids. In this case, the time each girl takes to fall down to the water is affected by a variety of factors, such as air resistance, wind, and probably most important, the initial velocity of the girl along the Y axis. Put simply, it will be largely determined by how hard she jumped off the platform. This is not constant between the girls, and the amount of time they spend in the air is therefore not equal either.
