As a white man, I’m thankful for channels like yours because you show me that not all black people hate white people just for existing. I get sick of being blamed and getting treated like shit for slavery and all that when I obviously wasn’t involved that and I can’t control what my ancestors did. Seriously like white people aren’t evil, we’re normal everyday people like everyone else. But these people basically are racist towards white people and then gaslight us by saying “it’s not really racism cuz power+prejudice” like bruh be FR I know this isn’t relevant to the video topic but I just really felt like giving you a shout out for showing the world that not all black people have this hate for white people and resentment because of what happened in the past.

There's more of us out there than you think. I have been practically cut off from most of my family for calling out black people's racism against whites, supporting Trump, and saying that white privilege doesn't exist. My sister is so brainwashed that she called my wife racist...even though my wife is married to me, a black man. It's so insane that it's inexplicable. I think that a lot of black people have been socially conditioned to be jealous of white people. It just doesn't work on me because I don't think anyone is inherently better than anyone else based on race. I rock with people who share my values...not people based on race.

As a black woman growing up in a very conservative area, my parents never taught me that racism was a thing. I felt cheated when I went to college wondering why my parents never schooled me on this “big” issue. Now that I’m older, I understand why they never did. At a very young age, I had personal agency over my life, my choices, and the consequences thereof. I never felt inferior and excelled past many of my peers of other races because I believed I could. I had friends of all races, and even moved away to college with my strictly conservative best friend. It never even dawned on me that she was white until it was drilled into my head in college.

Slavery is a deeply painful chapter in human history, one that’s more complex than many people realize. It’s important to acknowledge that white people have also been enslaved throughout history. In ancient Rome and Greece, people from Europe-like Celts, Germans, and Slavs-were often taken as slaves. The very word “slave” comes from “Slav,” highlighting how many Slavic individuals were captured and sold into bondage during the Middle Ages. Moreover, between the 16th and 19th centuries, Barbary pirates from North Africa raided European coastal towns, capturing and enslaving over a million people from places like Italy, Spain, and even Ireland and Iceland. These individuals faced harsh conditions and were often sold across the Ottoman Empire. During colonial times, many Irish people were subjected to indentured servitude, which, while not identical to chattel slavery, often involved brutal treatment and little freedom. Now, when we talk about slavery in Africa, we have to understand that it’s a complicated issue. The transatlantic slave trade was horrific, with millions of Africans taken against their will to work in the Americas. However, much of the initial capture of these individuals was conducted by other Africans. Local kings, tribal leaders, and merchants sold prisoners of war or rival tribespeople to European traders, exchanging them for goods like weapons and textiles. This doesn’t excuse the role of Europeans and Americans in the slave trade; rather, it emphasizes that this was a deeply rooted system of exploitation that involved various parties. It’s frustrating when people speak out on these topics without fully understanding the complexities involved. Social media often simplifies things into soundbites that can fuel anger without offering a complete picture. If we want to have meaningful conversations about slavery-or any difficult issue-we must educate ourselves first. Take the time to learn the history and understand that it’s rarely black-and-white. Slavery was about power, greed, and exploitation, affecting people of all backgrounds. Before jumping into a debate or expressing outrage, let’s commit to understanding the nuances of these historical realities. Knowledge is key, and it’s much more productive to have informed discussions than to shout without context.

You’re correct. All races have been subjected to slavery. However, what made the Atlantic slave trade unique this was the first time in history slavery was based on skin color.
@jaimyyelvingtonmusic2 күн бұрын
@@mystic22g4 You're absolutely right that the Atlantic slave trade was unique in many ways, especially in how it institutionalized race-based chattel slavery on such a massive scale. However, it’s not entirely accurate to say it was the first time slavery was based on skin color. For example, the Arab slave trade, which started centuries earlier, involved millions of people from sub-Saharan Africa, and skin color was often a factor in how enslaved individuals were treated. Even before that, slavery throughout history often targeted people who were seen as “different”-whether that difference was cultural, ethnic, or racial. The Atlantic slave trade definitely entrenched a system where skin color became a primary marker of status, but slavery as a system of exploitation has been around for thousands of years, and it’s often been linked to prejudice against “the other,” whether that was based on race, ethnicity, or religion. I think the key takeaway is to recognize that slavery in history is complex and nuanced. The Atlantic slave trade was horrific and unique, but it wasn’t the first time race or skin color played a role.
@ProudFilthyCasual2 күн бұрын
@@mystic22g4 It wasn't based on skin color, though. It happened to have a different race of people joining the slave trade later than all the people with darker skin who had been doing it in Africa for 400 years before them. You can act like that distinction makes it worse, but the slave trade going East from Africa to the Muslim empires, was not even comparable, the brutality of that direction of the slave trade was hell in comparison. You are also factually incorrect that it's the first time slavery was based on skin color, the Barbary Slave Trade was capturing whites into slavery before white Europeans even showed up to Africa.
