What is the use of preset pin

Set means to make its output =1=1 by making input S(or J)=1 and Reset means to make its output =0=0 by making input R(orK)=1=1. This inputs S(J) and R(K) are synchronised with clock so output changes its state with input if clock is enabled. Sometimes output has to be initialized at some of known state (0 or 1) or at any instant interpretive of clock. For this two asynchronous inputs Preset and Clear are there (connected at the output gate not synchronized with clock and are low active). If Preset =0=0, output =1=1, and if Clear =0=0, output =0=0. So when there is no need of Clear or Preset function it is (Preset and Clear) connected to 11. Otherwise it may malfunction and will override it's other inputs being asynchronous input.
