Just bought the Audium Comp 7 Passive. Audium speakers have great clarity, speed, focus and soundstage.

@@soulfunkjazz no I did not have the opportunity to compare to any other Audium’s. I bought them based on first reading reviews and their availability, and the opportunity to compare to my Dynaudio Contour 1.4LE at home with the option to return. I part exchanged the Contour’s for them. The Dynaudio’s were fine speakers, but in my smallish room the bass was somewhat prominent. The down firing bass of the Audium’s did not load the room to the same extent and the bass stayed firmly within the soundstage. Initially I was using a Lab12 Integre4 and currently it is an Airtight AMT-1S. Audium tell me the Comp 8 adds some extra detail with the addition of the ‘whizzer’ to the broadband unit which is also a little larger. The extra cost and availability to audition first swung me to the Comp 7. In the last month I was curious to try an Aperion Aluminium Super Tweeter mk11. This has added extra vitality and air to the soundstage. Hope this is helpful.

@@soulfunkjazz yes the Lab12 was fitted with the KT150’s. The Lab12 leaned towards robust, but the Airtight brings tonality and thus more musicality. The Airtight also has better spacial soundstage presentation. The Lab12 had 60 (5?) watts output and the Airtight is 36watts, but there is no shortage of control by comparison. Listening to live recording of Tiffany Poon at Klavier Festival Ruhr now and clarity, tonality , air and tempo changes are very rewarding. Leading note edges are immediate followed by natural decay. Airtight say on their website that the speaker output impedance is set to 8ohms, but can be internally set to either 4ohms or 16ohms if required. I have read a review which suggested though that 4ohms seemed more appropriate, so that would suit the Audium’s. I may look into it, but don’t feel any urgency. As regards the sweet spot....well taking what I am listening to if I sit a metre left or right the central image moves within the soundstage but doesn’t relocate to the left or right speakers exclusively. The speakers are just over 2 mtrs. apart and I sit 2.5 mtrs. away. The room is 4 mtrs. x 3 mtrs. I sit across the short dimension for domestic reasons. I did find that adjusting the toe in (the speakers are firing maybe half a metre outside my right and left shoulders.) expanded the soundstage dimensionality more to my liking. As regards the bass....well recorded upright bass sounds natural and proportionate. I guess though a 100 watt plus solid state amp might tighten it and possibly make it drier, but I like valve sound. I listen to Qobuz Studio all the time and the Dac is a MHDT Orchid with a tube output buffer, so need I say more 😊. Klaus at Audium is a really nice man give him a call or email and he will help.

Klingt sehr lebendig, auch wenn man jetzt direkt vor den LS steht. Man glaubt nicht, was so ein kleiner Breitbänder so kann. 👍
