Hey Pete, I would say you did that person a solid on the deal. It doesn't sound like you got a great deal, but you made a great car as usual. The struggle to make these deals to keep these older cars rolling is a tough gamble. I guess that we truly have to love them to go for it. My 1928 Ford project has been going for 5 yrs. It has been a struggle, but i keep pushing. Was it worth it for me as well some times i questions it, but then when i see what i did taking a bunch of pieces and made a pretty cool hot rod, i feel proud of my accomplishment who cares what others think...

What ever you sell have several prices. If you really want it gone you might even pay to get it out the door. If someone need it they will pay way more just to get it. There are people who want it but they will not pay a premium just to get it so they just wait untill the price comes down, this is where i want/should be, but sometimes you just need to have it and often they pay way too much, been there several times myself. Even in your age you still blunder and buy things that will cost you money and or time cause you are a human. What was true today might change and be untrue tomorrow, shit happens and we need to chose a different path depending on what the challenges the new day have served us.

Pete, i had alot of oil blowing out of my breathers but i had learned that i had alot of crankcase pressure and adding a pcv valve solved my oil blowing out of my breather.

Dear My Friend Pete; This is MoneyPit writing to you. Obtain a leak down tester to ascertain piston ring condition, because when piston rings, which rotate on the pistons, can line up just right and blow-by temporarily. Also, in that upper tube before the breather itself, you can wad up a stainless steel or copper colored scouring pad that Minnie probably has at the kitchen sink for cleaning HD stains from grilled food on pans. It makes misty oil return to drops and return to engine. This will give you a clearer estimate for how long you have before the plunge of cabbage goes into the rebuild, which incidentally, you will never recover. Just saying. I used to do work for friends at work but quit long ago. Most of the time it worked out good but more and more the BS got to be to much. When I was trying to move years ago I was offering core 4 bolt main small block chevys that were hot tanked and magged for free. I spent hours waiting on people who would talk for hours but then wouldn't take any of it. (Of course, it's all LS this & that now). Wound up junking all of it. Now the only work I'll do is on my own or for family. There was always a lot of BS in the "car world" but now it's everywhere! If you like it it's worth it. You didn't buy it to flip it so have fun with it and ignore everyone else! Proverbs 22:10 is one of my favorite verses I try to live by!

do a compression test first ,the pvc ventilation...whatever it is can still be clogged and causing blowby...be sure before spending the time and money on a rebuild. if you can do a leakdown test, even better to rule out head and valve sealing problems..

I'd put Power King Extra Traction bias ply tires on the front, 7 inch by 29.4 inches, they're cheap and actually good tires. They're not fancy yuppie tires but if you're keeping the car who cares?

If that motor sat for years, the oil ring(s) might be stuck and it may not need rebuilt. it may free up after running for a bit or you may need to open it up and free it up. may not need to spend money on the motor other than the new gaskets to put it back together. I'm rebuilding my buggy now and the money just keeps falling out of my pocket. I'm putting a Honda v6 in mine. good luck

As a race car yes it was worth the 7800. you should list it ebay or cars and bids for $28,000. I think the more them pay the better it is. There not going to find a prepped race car for less than $30,000 and they know that.
