The famed Murtizapur(MZR) - Achalpur(ELP) - Yavatmal(YTL) Shakuntala Express, the only train in India that existed in the hands of an England based company that started it more than 100 years back, even after the formation of Indian Railways.
The train had been abanoned from the last 8 months, eversince Indian Railways brought it from the England based company.
The sites are ghostly as no activity is going on the whole route.

धन्यवाद,बहुत ही बढिया व्हिडिओ बनाया हैं,हम बचपन मे मूर्तिजापूर से कारंजा इस ट्रेन से अकसर जाया करते थे,तब तो एक दिब्बा फर्स्ट क्लास का भी होता था, तथा स्टीम इंजिन के साथ सफर का बडा मजा आता था, हमे भी रेल से लागावं होने की वाजाह से काफी समय तक प्लॅटफॉर्म पर बिताते थे .

Dear Kaustubham, Thanks a lot for displaying the present condition of well known railway of Warhad (Berar) called SHAKUNTALA. The British had started this railway not for the convenience of Indians but for carrying cotton and teakwood from rural and tribal areas. Achalpur (Ilichpur) & Yeotmal were the centres of collecting the goods and Murtizapur was the main spot from where it was carried to Bombay. Bombay and Calcutta were the main ports from where the whole collected goods was carried to England. Actually the British were very clever. They carried pure and most valuable cotton & teakwood to their country. That's why, they had resumed this train in 1913. The work of laying sleepers & tracks was started in 1911 and carrying of goods in 1913. Then travelling of passengers was commenced in 1916. Thank you.

The taste for railways cannot be explained. In every country, there are enthusiasts. These two young railroad enthusiasts must have this passion otherwise they would not have shown us this video. I only travel on KZbin and I wouldn't have done it on a sightseeing package. A passionate Indian offered to invite me and travel with him on a network, it's comforting. Wonderful coverage of this once gem narrow gauge network, Kaustubham. Good commentary too... I'm really heartbroken to learn the closure of this legendary NG route, that too in absurd manner ☹ The height of mismanagement is that there's no trace of broad gauge conversion even now. I am lucky enough to have visited Shakuntala Railway on the Independence Day of 2016 & I regret not going to Yavatmal. The NG line to YTL goes over the BG line. Try visiting that crossover if possible. I do hope that the BG conversion plan fails & this NG gets a new life one day soon... just an unrealistic wish !!!

अचलपूर टू मूर्तिजापूर ही न्यारों ग्रिएज रेल्वे लाईन ऐवजी ही रेल्वेलाईन अकोट,अंजनगाव टू चंदुर बाजार व्हाया अचलपूर अशी बनली पाहिजे. त्या मुळे इंदोर आणि मुंबई असे दोन रेल्वे मार्ग डायरेक्ट नागपूर ते दिल्ली रेल्वे लाईन ला जोडले जाणार. व ट्रेनचे टायमिंग सुद्धा खूप राहतील.

Rahul: Akola-Mhow stopped operating since 2017, now Akola-Akot(42kms) is converted to Broadguage and finally CRS inspection is about to happen by June end. Hope to see this track operational by July mid. Khandwa-Amlakhurd broadguage conversion also in progress.. mainly Akot-Amlakhurd is pending due to tiger reserved area falling in between. Lets hope this whole track Mhow-Akot broadguage conversion gets completed soon..

shakuntala diesel nahi steam engein pe doudati thi ,1995 tak . tab steam par daudane wala akela steam engein tha aur ise ke liye shakuntala femous thi all over the wourld. bachpan me mai iski sawari kiya karta tha , mai running train me chadta aur running me kud jaata tha iskaran maine apne parents se maar bhi khayi kain baar . tab isme steam engein tha bahut majaa aata tha,tab ye hamare kheto se gujarti thi. it was an amaizing experiance . wo din ab nahi lout sakate.

Nice coverage Kaustubham .... Please tell us about its recent status as there is no information on the internet regarding its development. I wish it doesn't convert to BG as the heritage element will be lost... Till the time it was under British control, it was working and now it is not as it's under Indian government.... What a sad state of affairs.... The train fare was just 20 bucks for people even when it was closed forever... Whereas the actual price of a bus ticket from Yavatmal to Achalpur is much higher in comparison....

Please do not abandoned this Narrow gauge Railway, Rather make it Dual Gauge so that Both Narrow Gauge and broad gauge railway can run on this tracks. Make the narrow railway as Heritage tourist train .

Hi! Aap shayad rail fan hai, aur mujhe bhi train abandoned jagah mein ghoomna achha lagta hai. Main Mumbai se hoon, Old local trains scrap hone par inki durdadasha nahi dekhi ja sakti. Yahan pe DC traction se AC traction conversion ke baad bahut si EMU trains scrap hua tha, inko phir crashed ke corner mein khada kar diya gaya tha kaafi saal tak inke colors us gaye, rusted ho gaye etc. Crashed restricted area hone me karan EMU trains me photos air videos allowed nahin hai.

Bhai mai yavatmal se hu aur ye train me safar bhi kar chuka hu ,mere papa kahte the ki ye train isiliye band hue kyu ki isme log safar karna pasand nahi karte the speed ke karan aur ye train ghate me chal rahi thi , vo isiliye band hue kyu ki ye train bhalehi bharat sarkar ki hai par iska pura kharcha Britain sarkar karti thi means abhi ek sal pahle tak pura maintenance angrejo ke hat me tha , maine aisa suna hai ab pata nahi is bat me kitni sacchai hai . Dariyapur vashio ka ek matra train band kardi gayi. Yeh garibo ka haq ka safar nahi raha abh. Iss train me safar karte waqt garib log aur school ke bacho ne mujhe yahi kaha tha yeh in logo ka lifeline hai. Bahut dukh hota hai jab aisi halat me Vidharbha logo ka akhiri ummeed Ching li gai.

It is not necessary to connect every tom dick n harry village to Big cities. Develop the villages, retain their uniqueness n history, that also includes the narrow metre gauge railways, develop possible tourism home stays while providing income to families around without overcrowding.

Hammare bharat ki history yane ke purani aur pasand ki gaye is train ko jara fast speed aur maitain kar ke shru rakhna cha hiye aur history ko zinda rakhana chahiye aur isse paryatan me rakhna chahiye aur ye heritage train ko shru rakhna hi chahiye to phir aage logon ko history dekhne milegi warna hamare history train ko chate dekhna hum lucky bhartiya log hamesha ke liye khodenge.aur waise bhi kuchjsgahe hai jaha train bus chalaye jaa rahe hai hamare bharat me to ye mini tranbyi chalane cha hiye aur ise metro ki taraha lena chahiye waise bhi us area me metro nahi hai.logonko bhi suvidha hogi .aur is me ,har jagah platform hona chahiye taki train har jagah passenger keliye kahi haatdikha ne par bich raste bar bar stop na le sake isse speed badengi aur time bachenga aur train chalte hi rahengi log pasand karenge.bohot dookh honga agar ye bharat ki heritage train band hongi to,aur ye train bhartiya naam shakuntala ke naam se bhartiya paisosehi chaltti aaa rahi hai bhale pehehle iska maalik britist tha lakin ,is me ,kaam karne wale,log,aur paisa hamare bharat kahi thi aur jamin bhi azadbhart ki apni thi jispe ye train chalti thi sabh kuch bharat ka thi aur British ko bhik me paise deti thi .ye train hamare bharat ki hai aur hamari hi Shan rahengi.history rahengi,aur heritage train e ayengi aur ise waise hi shru rakhna chahiye aur bhartiyata dekhani chahiyeJjai Hind Jai Maharashtra.🙏

In India Narrow-gauge railways were started before 100 years. In our gujarat in 1865 vadodara princess started narrow-gauge railway between dabhoi to miyagam karjan. It is our Goodluck that that line is running positively. Narrow-gauge railways is our heritage property. And it is railway department responsibility to continue all the narrow-gauge lines by great proud.

I had decided to come murtazpur for photography of this line, but it is not possible to me to come murtazpur from Gujarat. It really sad to hear that the services on this line have been terminated. I was fortunate to travel from Murtizapur (MZR) to Achalpur (ELP) with ZDM4A 216 and 3Bogies on 05.03.2019. The Railway Staff were not so cooperative and they refrained me from taking photos. Still I managed to click photos as well as videos.

शंकुतला नरोगेज को अभीतक 3 से 4 बार सवॆक्षण होकर केंद्र सरकार रु.2147 कोटी मान्यता देकर रेल्वे सहाय्यक संचालक आंनद एम कृष्णा बाॅडगेज मान्यता सुचना मध्य रेल्वे महाव्यवस्थापक व्दारा राज्य सरकार के मुख्यमंत्री पत्र देकर सुचित किया 50% भार राज्यशासन को देना इसके पहले भी 1992 मे नियोजन आयोग भी 50 % निधी राज्य शासन को केंद्र को देकर बाॅडगेज माश्यता मा .ना सुरेश प्रभु रेल्वे मंत्री ने 2016 मंजुरी करके अभी राज्य शासन के पास प्रस्ताव बाकी है वैसेभी वधा से नांदेड मागॆ के वजह से यवतमाळ से अचलपुर बाॅडगेज परिवतीत होगा आम जनता जागरूक होनी चाहीये
