Same problem for me. They lasted just under two years. Bought two cameras and cannot reconnect after months of trying. I am beginning to wonder if these cameras are programmed that way.

Same here. Have always had connection issues that have needed frequent power cycling. It has always worked after power cycling until recently. Not I have to power cycle 2 or three times to get it to work. I'm going to be switching to kasa cameras pretty soon if I can't figure it out.

Can't connect anymore with this. Worked fine for a couple of years as well. Don't have a clue how to update the firmware given I can't connect to wifi so I guess the "solution" is just to throw it out?

Same issues you describe. DLink needs to fix ASAP. Not sure if I would ever buy again. Constantly freezes. Slow to connect. Disconnect all the time. Always resetting. CRAP!

Have a dcs 936L and I haven’t been able to establish a connection to it for over a year! I can’t get the light to blink orange period. I’ll never buy this crap again.

Was given one of these recently. I've spent hours trying to get it to work. It shows on wireless setup on my phone, but nothing else happens. The app talks about entering network details, but doesn't say whether that is the router details or details of the camera. The setup sheet talks about using the Ethernet connection - there isn't one. There is a YT video which helps, but it doesn't work using WPS or entering details manually. Will get rid of it.

I have 3 only 1 will hook up correctly. The two new ones I got will not connect. I keep trying but no luck. Won’t even connect to WiFi. Not recording or anything. Just turning on occasionally to check flood damage in basement etc

When it was working it would drop as you describe. Same symptoms and corrective actions you've described. I recently have been trying to reconnect this camera in a new location and it just will not connect. It will cycle through the connecting process, blink green for a bit and then will not reconnect. It wasn't the easiest to connect when new and now it's just useless.

Buy the Ring cameras instead. They don’t have these issues. If they did the company would fix ASAP, not like D link. I’ll never buy a D link product again horrible. D link has knowledge of these problems but they don’t fix the problem. Not a company I want to do business with.

To everyone that asked... I have not resolved this issue. I think this camera model is pretty much toast due to the latest updates. It's strange because other models in the same family don't have the issue.

Thanks for your video. Along with all the others confirming the same issue, I Now know I'm not missing something. I have 2 934ls and they work fine set up the same way. I use IP camera app on mac and only within the last year has this disconnect issue start. I guess we'll never know.

I was able to ressurect mine tonight. For those having problems try using a cell phone cube rated higher than 1.5mA with a micro USB cord.

Mine disconnects often, need to power cycle to reconnect it. No NVRs... also, recently I changed my WiFi pwd, and I can no longer setup the camera again (after resetting it) - I go through the process and it will not detect the camera during the setup process (with my phone connected to the WiFi of the camera).

My two 936Ls loose connectivity and have to reset to factory and set up again. Then we loose power and have to reset. I'm done with them same problem as you describe, except I don't have NVR. BTW I called dLink this week, they no longer support 936L any more.

I realize this video is older. But I have this camera and it worked great until it didn't. Long story short, I tried the new app and it finally picked it up and started working again.

I have the same model and my issue is that it pretends to connect but it never ends up getting the connection it says the camera couldnt connect but i a second one thats the same and it works! So i definitely know its the damn camera and not my wifi ive had it for 1yr plus theyre simple to manage but dang it just wont connect. the orange light blinks but when i follow all of the instructions and different ways of connecting it. . It just says "connecting" but it never connects its says "failed to connect" or something like that.

Mine disconnected months ago, tried to reconnect it but never worked..We recently moved to a different place.. and now I wanted to give it another try, 'cause I was thinking that I maybe did something wrong during reconnection before. Same proble here. Worst is even if i plug in and out the power it will never reconnect. It stop transmitting. It also not updating its firmware... i always restart the connection to be able to use it again.

I am also having the same disconnect problem. My camera was purchased on 5/5/18 from Walmart. For the last year or so, the camera will disconnect for no reason...have to go through the process of disconnect, etc, etc. I even purchased a Quick Start Model EX6110 WiFi extender (on 5/4/20) thinking the signal from my WiFi was too weak. Worked for a while but again, the disconnect problem persists. Frustrated to say the least.

Downgraded to 1.02.01, and it stopped getting hung and stays on wifi. It would need to be unplugged and rebooted to reconnect to wifi, now it has been stable for months.

I Have 3 of these dcs936-Ls - two in one house in Asia and one in my own house. I have found the exact same issues you describe. Some times it works, most times they are offline - Sadly i can't go to my home in Asia to do a hard reset. Also, it forces you to be actually physically there to -reset and set up again. which i have to do several times to get these cameras to work. HUGE problem because it totally defats my purpose of watching my 2nd home while i am in USA. now 3 cameras always offline, randomly one in LA will come online. IM sick of doing 5 hard resets to get it to work again, maybe firmware because they are far worse over time. pretty much JUNK now

The power LED on that back and the LED on the front both flash orange, even after power cycling. The reset button does nothing, no way to connect to it, I'd say it's completely sunk. I found the stock firmware to be the best, newer versions caused more problems so I finally rolled back and left it, so this failure wouldn't be related to a firmware upgrade.

Mines want connect to the Internet period through resets, unplugging it, and correct passwords, it's shows on my phone internet put want connect to house internet but my phone saying it connected and picking up in it's system. I get two of these camera but one want work connect to the Internet for shit.

Hi Aron, I have a DCS-942L and a DCS-936L, both of which I have had for over 2 years and both have intermittently lost connection and have had to be unplugged to reset. This is especially annoying if I am out of town! By the way the 936 has been working outside under an eave at -25C sometimes and works just fine under those conditions (as long as it doesn't get wet of course). I bought a DCS-8010LH a few months ago to also use around my house. It just quit and although I can go through a reset and setup procedure, it just will not connect again. None are hooked up to a recorder. With all the changes to the website layout, and now two different systems, lack of custom setup available for the cameras, cloud vs. sd card storage, sd cards not working, etc. I have had it with this crap! Yes they are nice cameras when they work, but that is nothing but a PITA to try to keep them going.
