I have an updated version of this. Is using the ground stud on the back necessary? Thanks!

Joseph Vogel never used the earthing on any great I have used, but I’m in the UK and no idea if you would need to use these earthed abroad.

Hi - do you by any chance have a model number off the underside of the 48V DC power supply? It appears you have a version A1 and the power supply of that version is different to that used on later models, both in voltage and, crucially, DC barrel jack connector. PSUs from later versions of the DGS-1008P will not fit the A1. I've a new version (with PSU) and one identical to the one in the videod (vers. A1) which has no PSU. I really need to try and find a replacement PSU but D-Link are no help at all. They seem to think it is the same PSU. I can state categorically it is NOT the same and will not even plug into the back (the centre pin is thicker on the A1 compared to the current D1).

I am unable to check on this I'm sorry to say as this was installed at a clients premises.
@georgehaytack69166 жыл бұрын
Pity. Even a clear still frame showing the underside of the PSU would be of use. I don't seem to be able to get that on KZbin

I'll have a look and see if I have any of the original footage still around, that may allow a better resolution of the image if i get a freeze frame on it. By the sound of it they have changed the specifications of the device if your device is no fitting.

Much appreciated. PSUs always seem to go walkies when kit is recovered. G.

Looks like it might be the following: NU60-F480125-l1NN - not sure if that helps or not!

Why no test of PoE thingi?

+Piotr Kula I did not have the rest of the equipment with me when doing the video, sorry!
@PiotrKula19 жыл бұрын
NO worries. Shame though. I am getting this one for my Cameras any way. Seems decent. Did you ever get any PoE things going on it?
@TechRealityGlasgow9 жыл бұрын
Yes, the POE side works perfectly! There are a number of POE Samsung CCTV camera's running via this, and still working perfectly!

Just bought one :)

Its a great little device! I have to be honest and say that just about any switch you buy these days, does the job and does it well!

Disappointed as this video showed merely "unboxing" and not how to use the switch, how to connect it to the router, network topology configurations within a home/small business installation.
@TechRealityGlasgow8 жыл бұрын
As the title says... Unboxing video... Open box, insert cables, connect your computers and that's it. Nothing else to know or do.
@audioorigami8 жыл бұрын
maybe you can do a follow up video on how to use it?
@TechRealityGlasgow8 жыл бұрын
That may be too complicated for many people out there.. but I'm sure I can look into doing this for anyone who may have difficulties with this sort of equipment :)

Do yo know what "unboxing video" means? It's correct. If you want this, you should search "installation and configuration".
@geniemcguire63288 жыл бұрын
In fact your full title says "Unboxing video of the D-Link DGS-1008P 8 port Gigabit POE Switch" - which as an educated native speaking of the English language, you would recognise "unboxing" is acting as an adjective qualifying the noun 'video'. There is no mention of inserting cables. How can a video be unboxing? Especially in this case - Why bother? There's heaps more to do and know. 21st Century Skills and situated learning has moved beyond the model of your video. We are in the age of inquiry.

Oh, you can nit pick just about everything on anything that I produce, but then I am not out to prove anything to the world, nor am I out to prove I am in any way superior or even a conformist of what is acceptable and what is not. By taking time out to comment on my poorly structured, poorly worded and poorly grammatically built material I'm sure that all I can do is learn how to be a better person and learn from you on the way that I should do things in the future. I see that you ability to create KZbin content is rather limited... 0 creations, that is so sad as I am sure that if I had sat back and watched and listened to your creative work, I and many more people would have learnt so much. Thanks you for taking the time out to point out just how poorly constructed this 3.5 year video is, and I'm sure that I and other KZbin creators will sit in anticipation of your next piece of input.
@geniemcguire63288 жыл бұрын
They'll have to wait. I create in other ways. I wonder how many KZbin viewers find creativity in watching a box being open and the contents removed.
@TechRealityGlasgow8 жыл бұрын
Well, at the moment 14,300 views show me that there is a fair bit of traffic, 13 likes and 5 dislikes! I'm sure that the multitude of "Unboxing VIdeo's" will all benefit from your input as well, and in doing so we can all create material that hopefully will make you happier and more content in your online viewing and learning experience. Please, as soon as you do release some of your own content, please let us all know so that we can also learn and possibly comment on your own creations.

Somewhere I have read a comment or a perhaps another YT that takes the Mickey out of the plethora of 'Unboxing Videos'. It was clever and very amusing. If I come across it again I will share with you by posting the link as a comment. Something to look forward to. Now back to my thesis.

I appreciate you taking time out of your thesis work to increase the revenue on my little video, even though, to you, it has so many defects.
