Thank you very much for your reaction! I'm very pleased!!! 🙏🙏🙏 And yes, I did 418 takes and spent a week recording. I can't say the takes were bad, but I just wanted to make it as perfect as possible. The main goal of this video is to show that musicality is built not only on melody and harmony. But musicality can be built on rhythm, accents, pauses, with a small number of notes. But the right arrangement of all this gives us musicality. Thank you champ 🙏

As helium said in the comments, in case dlow didnt check, Helium was trying to prove that there is musicality in a set with minimal pitching, that the complexity of the beat and the usage of silence is musical itself. Which he 100% definitely proved. So insane.
@MajuhsAlt Жыл бұрын
he proved it but it was a risky experiment. deep down its very clear that its possible to reach a better level of musicality without minimal pitching that helium used. i appreciate the effort but he really could've achieved more in musicality the other way. personally i didnt like that he experimented and risked his rankings at a massive competition like gbb but i respect his bravery lol just my random thoughts tho i still loved his R2
@GlossArt Жыл бұрын
@@MajuhsAlt I find that the beatbox notion of what is and isn't "musical" actually contradicts with actual music in a very ironic way. like, there are an uncountable number of songs across many different genres that lots of people enjoy where melody, chord progressions and the pop or dance music structure aren't the focal point of the music, and all those songs are still considered music. but somehow in the beatbox world, being more "musical" means making a pop song in 4/4 with a melody and a hook, and everything else loses you points on "musicality". it's very strange to me
@MajuhsAlt Жыл бұрын
@@GlossArt nono i agree, but at the same time music doesnt mean musical. beatbox is music but doesnt always gain points in musicality because it isnt very musical the same way you said people enjoy songs without melodies, chord progressions, etc and still call it music is valid because it is music but is it musical? i believe the concept of musicality is more subjective than objective so theres always gonna be ups and downs as for you saying "everything else losing you points on musicality" is also valid but at the same time its being judged its not possible to confidently give helium 9/10 or even 8/10 when there are many beatboxers who are performing their music in a better style of musicality then him. if there are a dozens of people with 8/10 musicality and have set the bar too high for helium to reach than its not his fault that his routine isnt "musical" enough. its the competitions which is extremely hard to compete with thats why i said it would be easier to achieve musicality through the use of more pitchings unlike the way helium did with minimal pitchings. his R1 wildcard was a amazing example of musicality. sorry for the rant haha
@GlossArt Жыл бұрын
That's fair. I was going off of just the idea I had in my head of the word musical, but as it turns out, there are actually two definitions, one being "relating to music" (which is the definition I had in my head), and one being "melodious or tuneful", which I suppose is the definition judges are using to make decisions, so that's on me. I still think that deciding that something being more melodious makes it inherently better doesn't vibe well with the idea that all forms of beatbox are music, but I do understand where you're coming from
@GrudgeTale Жыл бұрын
@@MajuhsAlt If you're at the level of technicality helium is at then it isnt risky at all. I agree with all that you said as well tho. It's just that since beatboxing is turning into a field where artists can create songs with beautiful melodies, people who stick to the " original " form of beatboxing such as helium and alem somehow are considered low in musicality. Take this for example, Drummers especially in the jazz are of music are considered to be one of the most complex musicians in the world. they are using the same kit with such level of complexity in timings with polyrhythms, they play with ghost notes and more things like that. So we can ask if in the world of beatboxing which is originally done to imitate drums, is it not musical if they can be extremely complex with how they use their sounds. I myself is a drummer so I extremely appreciate the message that helium is delivering here and dont think that it is risky at all. If you wanna listen I suggest listening to larnell lewis drum solo.
