I love this fantastic video which reminds me of my trip on the "City of Los Angeles" Domeliner from Chicago to LA in 1964, but it's so much more. Why! Why! Why! was ending abruptly chopped off? I want to see more! more! !more! THANKS FOR SHARING.

Again, I thank God I was able to experience the thrill of train travel even at the very end of the Golden Age on both UP and SP as a boy. Consider the “comfort “ of today’s air travel vis a vis yesteryear’s trains!

And I did the same between Portland, OR, and Milwaukee, WI from 69/72. Nothing like it. Dave Olsen

Thanks for the wonderful memories! I rode this very train, the City of Los Angles many times as a boy. I cherish these times I had with my family traveling to Iowa from LA.

it is true this film is not complete it s too bad Union Pacific no longer has passenger trains as well those too were the days it was sure disappointing to me when these trains were taken out of service in 1971

It was the public's decision to take these trains out of service. The public which used to patronize these Union Pacific trains were lured to air travel and the newly built interstate highway system thus putting the passenger trains out of service. The public killed the train. That is popular culture for you.

I do remember when these trains were taken out of service half a century ago on May 1st 1971 the transition was really hard for me I loved going away on the train seeing Oregon and California a couple of times fortunately there was Amtrak and I could travel by train again years later

And to think that in a mere 12 years the Union Pacific Passenger train would become extinct forever. Very sad.

I guess a huge crew was affordable for the railroad because labor was so cheap.

I wonder why no women applied for a job working on the Union Pacific passenger train?

You *CLEARLY* have no idea how over zealous Pentrex can be when it comes to people uploading their films in their entirety. Edit: Removed two from "You two *CLEARLY* ."
