For one thing, I was being an easy modo dumbass, and second I was mainly being Cirno for range purposes, and just was staying as far away as possible while still being able to hit her. It was ALWAYS the life drain that did me in. Must've taken me at least ten tries.

Tulipia5 sorry for my poor english Lunarians they refuse life and death(they think that is *dirty*).so they can not really fight against fairy(clownpiece).because fairy mean of life .plus,junko purified the life of clownpiece(not the moon),which means clownpiece and her little fairy friends become more crazy,and harmful for lunarians. Personnally,i think she is weird(guuuuuud) at the beginning no matter what

by "purify" it means the scientific/practical meaning (like "purifying" metal to get rid of its impurities and make it more pure junko might consider the lunarians to be the moons "impurities" and wants to "cleanse" it aka lunar holocaust

Nope. She wasn't after the moon. Junko solely wanted to exact revenge on Chang'e. The fact that the Lunarians locked Chang'e in the capital for her own safety meant that she had to siege the capital to get at her, and because the Lunarians can't stand impurity (something that fairies are apparently full of) Junko borrowed a shit ton of fairies from Hecatia to siege the capital with, one of those being Clownpiece. It was Junko's assault that lead to the Lunarians' attempt to purify Earth to inhabit, which led to them attracting Reimu/Marisa/Sanae/Reisen's attention. I think.

As I understand, her purifying power simply removes all the excess impurities from her goal - in this case she removes everything except life energy from the fairies, thereby enhancing her manifestation without touching their outer shell, (because the fairies themselves are the embodiment of nature) which makes them more poisonous in relation to Lunyans (if they are affected by filth of nature they simply lose their immortality, and begin to die of old age)
