And here we go guys - let's play a fresh new Touhou fangame! EIegant Impermanence of Sakura is a chinese Touhou fangame, released just yesterday - so like, it's very fresh. Great quality game, although sometimes complex. Getting LNB that fast, despite it being dang hard, oh boy it's surprising me as well.

东方祈华梦～Elegant Impermanence of Sakura (EIoS/EIS for short) is a fresh fan-made Touhou game. Just like Fantastic Danmaku Festival did in both parts regading EoSD and PCB - EIoS, along with its story, pays homage to Imperishable Night. It is sort of extension to official story, as the developers claim - yet official English translations are about to be added, so we need to wait a little more.
In the terms of gameplay: The game consists, as usual, from 6 Stages across four difficulties, plus Extra Stage unlocked by doing 1cc on Normal or higher. Yet because it is a homage to IN, players available are actually teams, which are: Reimu + Yukari, Marisa + Yuyuko and Mokou + Keine. Human with a youkai. Fancy, isn't it?
[And as the description on Steam page is accurate, I'll allow myself to use it for explanation purposes :V]
Except for the bosses, all the enemies in EIoS can be divided into two categories
Large-scale enemies, which are: Large fairy, medium fairy and yin-yang orb
Small-scale enemies: Tiny fairy, will-o-the-wisp, Kedama(Hairball)
All the collisions between you and enemies won't be determined as missed (except bosses). Therefore, you can shotgun in the face of enemies freely. (lol)
It is important, that in high-speed mode (human-side), your character won't shoot the small-scale enemies - you'll damage large- and medium-scale enemies only. In slow-speed mode (youkai-side), your character will shoot all kinds of enemies.
All the large-scale enemies are carrying circles with red or blue color, these circles have the function of dyeing.
When the large-scale enemies are shot down, all the small-scale enemies in the circle will be dyed. In addition, the bullets inside will be cancelled as well.
If those enemies are dyed already, they will be instantly destroyed, and it will fill a bit of the “Chain Dyeing” gauge.
Killing this way enough enemies, thus filling “Chain Dyeing” gauge, will enable fighting Last Spell Card (LSC) of the stage's boss. As far as I'm concerned, Final Stage boss doesn't have LSC, nor has it Extra boss. It's a little of disappointment, yet worry not - they make for a hella great fights!
[ My honest opinion? ]
I'm happy the game has met the finish line and got a full release! And yeah, while I was a bit complaining earlier about the system being too strict (LW requirements, unfairness of Stage 5), I think it can be worked around - one way or another. While it'd be fine to see adjustments in there, I'm not forcing devs to it - it's up to 'em.
All-in-all, it's a totally epic fangame. Graphics in Chinese fangames are always at the highest level. Mechanism is indeed unique - a bit confusing and also forces the player to stay unfocused. In fact, the game is tough. Like, very tough. But the gameplay as a whole is indeed awesome. If you're okay with difficulty - bring it on and check it out!

I'm seeing very conflicting opinions in the comment section about the game lol This game does have a very heavy Chinese-developed feel to it, like SSS and the two FDF games, especially in the character portrait designs. I honestly think Chinese game developers have a different philosophy in creating danmaku games, and I'm quite okay with that. More variety in how different developers tackle the game genre as a whole. I'll probably get this game myself soon, been a while since I've played a new Touhou fangame, but gonna wait for the translation first

Erm... well, I bought the game, and played it on Easy, since my skill level is low. It's odd, I cleared the game with not much difficulty, but I feel so unsatisfied in the end. I was fixating on the stages more than the boss fights, so much so that I don't even remember any of the new bosses' names after 3 hours of playing. Trying to find the best route to get the dye combos in each stage, I actually get disappointed whenever the stage boss appears and I didn't reach the minimum combo level. And weirdly enough, the bosses' patterns feel uninspired? They're beautiful, but somehow lacking something. Not even the final boss leaves a lasting impression on me, other than her final spellcard that reminds me too much of Kanako's Mountain of Faith. I'll work my way through Normal just to see if the experience's better, but yeah, it's kinda meh in general in Easy mode. I find GoDS more satisfying of an experience

honestly im not gonna play this game.. but i rly love watching the gameplay just to see the beautiful characters design, the magical sceneries, the wonderful bgm and of course the spectacular danmaku performances! damnnn they all look so gud and yukari-sama seems like an absolute 17 yr old here 😳 my favorite is the 4th boss tho wow, it kinda disappoints me that the 5th boss feels basic and underwhelming compared to her.. that bubble girl is really unique, classy western-style combined with eldritch asian vibes lol looking forward to read about the lores as well as the translated dialogues on some touhou wikia~

The music is great and some spellcards are nice (maybe I like sakura trees too much). Even if the story sounds like PCB and the 2 last bosses reminds me to MoF (and just copypaste of a real miko and... idk, Sakuya-hime? Her sister who is referenced by Akyuu?), I think it is kind of cool... But of course, I wouldn't play for it... In any case, I like to watch touhou fangames, because it reminds me how big the fandom is.

Well,the game needs purchasing,so......maybe okay. Also,regarding the Stage 5 boss name,it is actually just a real Japanese family name (神宫寺),originated from a temple/monetary that was built within the area of a Shinto Shrine and was owned by the same shrine.So yeah no Sakuya-Hime connection with the name here,but the Final boss IS the Japanese Cherry Blossom/Fuji Mount Goddess.(From THB Wiki,translated from Chinese)
