I don't know if this is the right place to ask? I visited the Osaka Science Museum in 1996, crossing over a bridge, I saw a bento lady that was singing a characteristic song to attract potential customers. I have never been able to find another experience or occurrence of this? I have only seen an episode of Jdrama "Haken no Hinkaku" in which the "Super-Temp, demonstrates this skill. Every time, I go back to Japan; I wish I can see this again. But, I have never come across this "sing-song" bento lady song? Does anyone know what I am talking about? Is this a lost art?
so they have been around since before or after the meiji era ?

@@qchan5586 oh soo ka, the only time I see chindonya on Japanese local TV, was a nhk Asadora show called massan where the heroine, Rita looking for a job where she came across a chindonya group performers with shehnai flute or clarinet which I rarely seen in public except in a symphony event.. heard that Akihabara is becoming quiet due to lack of traffic and tourists, hopefully the tourism board or the business owners there will hire you when things get better there.. and good luck in your future endeavors when the pandemic starts to subside..
