Bible verses about Guayla/ Zefen (Dancing) in English translate to orgy/orgies. Which has no connection to traditional dancing. For Example. Galatians 5:21 envying, murders, drunkenness,*orgies*, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Definition of Orgy is- a wild party, especially one involving excessive drinking and unrestrained sexual activity. "he had a reputation for drunken orgies" κῶμοι* (pronounced Komos and derivative of Kiamomos) a nocturnal and riotous procession of half drunken and frolicsome fellows who after supper parade through the streets What does the word komos have to do with zefen or guayla? When our music has nothing to do with the Greek origins. Nor does it have to do anything with orgy in English. In those times the Greeks would have sex parties and man with man and women with women and all types of weird sex parties was normal in Greek culture at the time. The Apostle Paul wrote the Epistle of Galatians in Greek. The way the word was translated was completely wrong. When you read Greek and see what they actually meant you understand that Guayla or Zefen is not a sin. In fact no where in the bible does it say its a sin Greek nor in Aramaic or Hebrew if you look at the original context of the bible. There are so many missed meanings because of translation errors. It’s not who the messenger was but what the message is. To be honest we do not understand the message. That’s my two cents. Our focus should emphasize proper translations. So in short guayla in my opinion is a improper translation in the bible so therefore it is not a sin. There for it is okay to love Guayla.
I have heard your analysis and I like it. Great erudition. One point though- I wish you had started your analysis from macro cultural analytical context because the topic seems to me that art is coming back "home," to its proper place from wherever it was. If the context is expanded, it would educate a lot of us. Thanks though. You are an antidote for so much of the cacaphony that is out there.
