This was near the end. I have photos of the last run, not sure if I got video of tho.. The Reo Grande Zepher was running from Denver to Winter Park on a regular timetable..mostly people on ski trips. Locals called it "The Ski Train". I think a ski train still runs...but not with such awesome motive power.

Definitely Pinecliffe Crossing Tollland does not have paved Highway heading east uphill

Hey Matt, These locomotives are now in Golden Colorado at the Colorado Railroad Museum. I don't know if they are in operational condition..But I would guess that they are. The Colorado Railroad Museum does not have much track to run trains on.

Yes they were! I really loved chasing her. Lived in Colorado 80-85. Spent many weekends chasing trains.

Looks like you were at the Tolland crossing about 5 miles east of the Moffat tunnel

That is the crossing at Pinecliffe.. You can see Highway 72 in the background heading east towards Arvada. Not Tolland crossing at all

The title needs fixing. This was not the Zephyr. That train was done April 23, 1983. This was the year after when the F9s ran on the front of the Ski Train.

@jointlinerailfan Yes it is. The original CZ ceased operations in 1970. However, the D&RGW continued to operate its own passenger train service, named the Rio Grande Zephyr, between Salt Lake City and Denver using the original equipment until 1983.Same Train.
