Great video, very informative, I can't wait to get back in my shop and reinvent my hollowing tool. I have been kicking around the idea of getting a laser but your system is cheaper and better I think, I love the tickler idea. I have one question why not cut the turning on the lathe with a parting tool and then it could be salvaged with a glue joint and a burn ring to cover the joint? Seems like such a waste after all that work.

So now glue the sides together with black CA glue to show the edge. Makes it part of it.

How do you sand the inside? I like the spring indicator and I like that loop for resisting the torque. I currently have an articulated arm hollower but this looks so much easier to set up

Curiosity has me asking why a piece of 5/8" rod for small sized hollowing? Also, what angle grind are you using on the 'cutter steel', what type of steel are you using for those cutters(HSS?), and can you tell me how it would be possible to sharpen the cutter using the CBN wheel?

Thanks for sharing Dave ! :) I've see and heard people talk about making cutters out of files. Question : Do you know (or does anyone know) how file metal compares to Carbide or HSS ? I mean, how would a cutter made out of a file grind on : a.) a composite wheel ? b.) a CBN wheel ? Thank you for your generous consideration, Steph_Louisiana
