This is a brilliant example of the level you need to be at 4,5,6 at done of these bigger universities. These guys may not even be starters. Super exciting video. Every junior who wants to jump to a national level or try to play at a decent D1 should watch and understand this is the bar. You have to at LEAST be this good.

wow, that's some big hitting! Jack had 64% of 1st serves in but "only" won 50% of 1st serve points and none of his 2nd serve points. His 4DFs made it hard to hold serve. Niels had a big advantage in the 5-8 shot rally length where he won 14 points vs 5 for Jack. That's where Jack had 6 unforced errors on his backhand and Niels hit 6 winners, mainly with the forehand. Full stats on my site. I love that slice passing shot at 13:20

Niels will have an easier transition to the D1 level since he has a legit weapon in his forehand. Kid can absolutely rip it with some consistency. Theyre gonna eat his serves if he finds himself above the 5-6 spot, but he'll def get stronger with some legit college strength and weight training. Jack wll also be solid and may have a slightly higher ceiling if takes more initiative and stops hitting off his back foot on his forehand. He'd play an absolutely beautiful point and then follow it up with a few lazy points, which won't fly in D1 where the competition is generally top international junior players, even at low and mid-tier programs. Regardless, both of these kids are super strong players and clearly look deserving of playing D1.

Yeah for real, the high school I went to and the teams in my conference were trash. I played 1 singles varsity freshman year and I was able to beat my #2 singles player left handed, it took 3 sets but I did it. Lol. It ducked because when I would get to sectionals to qualify for state it was always such a shocker coming in because the entire season I barely had to try. Luckily I was able to play at my club and my coach didn’t care that I did that instead of practice with my team but still it was shitty sometimes

Would love to see Jack come in on his serve. Niels weakest shot, and there were not many of them, is when he returned serve. Niels moves in for the return and takes it on the rise as a bunt return, which floats a bit. Jack is quick and could possibly pounce on these shots. This is the only time during the point Niels lets off the gas a bit. Conversely, Niels ground strokes are so strong, he might consider standing back on return of serve and take full swings, pushing the server back right a way.

Good match. I think Jack was not playing up to his standards. His serve was off and he played defense from the first ball. Never once was he playing on the baseline. I don't think he's been playing recently. Neils also had problems serving but he seems to put enough pressure on Jack to force more errors. It would be good to see a rematch where Jack is playing his normal game with confidence.

I don't think so. Despite Felix UTR being currently at 12.04, people say that juniors UTRs are inflated. And by looking at Niel's results in the UTR Pro event that he played, losing to a lot of 11s and 12s (and losing 0 and 1 to a low 14.3), while Felix recently had a tough match against a 13.8, I think Felix wins this one easily. Obviously Niels is a kid, and is improving, so he can end up way better than Felix. But playing against "adults" is different, and that is why the transition to the pro circuit is brutal. "Regular" good players take 2-3 years of constant beatings until learning the game.
