I love watching your repairs. I'm learning a lot. (71 years old, welded since I was 15, never professionally so...) I'd like to see some of the equipment work after you fix or modify them

Haven't done much hard facing before. Would love to see a video about when you need to add a build up, intermediate harness layer vs when to add straight to the base.

Great work - as usual! May I suggest turning down the music - or turning up your narration. I find I'm turning up the volume when you are speaking, then turning it down during the music - then I can't hear what you're saying - up-down-up-down, you get the idea. With respect :) P.S. - Industry standard for music AND/OR narration is -12db :)

Excellent channel I like it. I am not a welder. But I did have a pipe fitter certified in welding teaching me how to do basic welds. And you to know when you are supervising somebody welding for me such as a mechanic. You can only well clean shiny metal. It has to be clean you can't weld through rust dirt and greasy oily material. And when you watch this guy the first thing he does is get comfortable. Sits down lays down whatever he has to do to be comfortable when he is welding. My two cents worth.
@OFW Жыл бұрын
One of the most important things when welding is to get comfortable before you start welding.

Okay so now you created a monster, my husband, he now is confident and wants to tackle a project. He has a rear 8ft scraper for our 75hp tractor, he uses it for fine finish grading only, and doesn't really move large amounts of dirt. Anyways hes adding a 2"in HYD. Cylinder to swing the blade 30'deg left & right from zero, pretty easy he says and got a couple of templates made for the 1"metal. The question is would T1 metal plate be sufficient for the brackets which are about 12" inches in length & from 7"in. on welded area , tapered to 4"in on the Hyd rod pin. He can weld fairly neat but nowhere near the speed you are at, he has a DC 250amp welder and uses a 7018 rod which means absolutely Greek to me. Thanks for your input.
@OFW Жыл бұрын
T1 should be fine. Might be overkill. I would have to see the setup to tell you. 7018 is a good choice.

Turn the heat up and J motion from the ripper to the eyelet.

Say what you will, but I don’t think this man needs any advice on his welding ability. I would however, have beveled the eyelet plate and possibly preheated the shank before welding the build-up plates on. The shank was probably still hot enough from the arc gouging for the eyelet though.
