Dropping this comment just because Ive never been so early! Not watching this vid yet as Im still in the engine rebuild section of old #1113 (just finished the breather assembly). Love your vids Squatch! You've actually inspired me to pick up a restoration project of my own, albeit a much different one. I just picked up an old mechanical calculator and am attempting to bring it back to like new condition (my workspace consists of the desk in my bedroom so thats as big as I could get). Keep it up!

Fantastic video! I say that as a happy subscriber and an old Cat skinner (977H and No. 12 ). I think if I could have any piece of Cat equipment it would be the D-2. It’s the perfect size tractor for those small jobs, and as a friend’s father (who had his for over 15 years of tough love) said, it always started and you practically had to take a sledge to it to stop it (not that you would; it was a testament to its reliability). This is the second time I’m watching this video. I like your description of the wrench and a high-quality wrench. It goes well with this video, which is a high-quality video. Can’t wait for the payoff when you refurbish it and bring it back to life. I’ll be watching.

Thanks for the Cat D 1113 winter project disassembling video. I must say, you made the dismantle thus far look a lot easier than I would have ever expected it would actually be. I will be watching each successive video intently and maybe a little inquisitively as well. Observation, winter sure comes to your area much too soon, leaves turning color in last weeks video, leaves covering the ground in this week video, wow, that's fast.

I was just remembering using a Olive loader to pull an engine out of a 49 Chevrolet pickup in 1967 , risky business is the best description because everything on that old and warn out Oliver leaked, I had to keep the lift spool valve cracked open to keep loader buckets and engine at the same level while my dad was under the truck working it loose. The truck was on oak fire wood blocks to give enough room to move around underneath the truck. No shop all the tools wear carried in a small tool box. Add to problems my dad always had a mouth full of crew making it hard to understand what was being said.

Will be following now more than ever (but I've already followed every video since idk when lol) I have some work to do on my D2, although my project is pretty Frankenstein, repower and whatnot, but the rear end, finals, clutches all need tlc. Work on this generation of machines' great great grandbabies at work haha. Just want to watch a old iron vet as I go. My machine is 5U3591. If you wouldn't mind Squatch, if there are any known differences (just as you pointed out today) would you mind continuing to do so if its note worthy or if anyone else besides myself would like to know. I appreciate it! Love your work, quality in video and restoration. You've come a long way on the videoing. Very pleasant and fun to watch. Anyway, appreciate it in advance and look forward to seeing each installment. Take care!

I spent two days try to get one master pin out without a portable press. Finally gave up, took the dozer off, slackened the track and got it off that way. I notice the back housing where the spring mounts on is different than my 5u. When you get around to it, I would be interested in how the back end of that large bolt works inside that spring. I am wondering if that end can get stuck, causing the track to get too tight as the spring would no longer be able to compress. Seems mine does that from time to time working in loose shale.

Yes, the days are getting noticeably shorter, as we wind on down to the "coming of the snow". Where i am, it is dark well before 8PM now, where not long ago at 10PM it was still light out. The snowmobilers will be happy but i am not one of "them". At least, we will have you to keep us occupied with new episodes through the long cold winter. Where did the summer go? I am hearing the geese outside right now as they are starting to gather for their trip South.

I haven’t thought about that, what the heck do you do with old engines and ultra low sulphur fuel?
@rogercarrico49754 жыл бұрын
Do you mean, what do you use in old engines that were design to run on the old high sulfur fuel? I have several older engines made well before UL sulfur fuel was conceived. I like Stanadyne "lubricity formula " diesel fuel conditioner. When I can get it. If not then Power services conditioner from Walmart. Always use something with lubricity additives in it. 👍
