@rgmtb Do you still have the D1x on your bike?

around 4:35 you mention if the batteries die it switches to a gear that you can preset..thats actually really great and something ive wondered about since all this wireless stuff got popular..Cool

Had mine for about 4 months now ebike. It's awesomeness! No issues at all.
@mtbboy19933 жыл бұрын
The shifter adjusts the cable tension at every start up. But keep in mind eventually it reaches a limit, so has to be reset. The microadjust is only for the position for the gears. Great feature for sure, I know you know that. But some of what you said might confuse some.

7:48 yes, I experienced that too, but I can easily flip it out, I do this to take the batteries out too, once u forgot to charge them so I had to swap them while I was out it was not an issue. So this is not really an issue, just flip it I have it so it will move when I need it to, but does bot mive while riding.

I’ve been running Box/Archer for about a year and the only complaint I’ve had is that I wished it shifted slightly faster. The new batteries are still sold out, but I’m getting them for both of my systems as soon as they’re available. Thanks for the review, Gene.
@Kraeuterbutter3 жыл бұрын
use Shimano - nearly double the speed the archer can then run, than with sram
@RobertGMuller3 жыл бұрын
I like the Box systems better than either.

I did not have a good experience with the D1x. I purchased a D1x with micro shift. Extra plastic cables, in case I needed to reattach the product, extra batteries because a friend had them run out on the trail, it was close to 450. For the cost, I shouldn't have to worry about water damage or doing mods. I ended up 9 miles away and had to walk back because of a water failure. I RMA'd the product after using it for less than a month. I paid shipping. I got it back it died in a puddle 3 weeks later. I never looked back. I now have the SRAM GX AXS for 600.00 coupled with Shimano SLX HG. Best shifting ever. The customer shouldn't have to be a beta tester.

What did Archer say about the water damage? Isn't it supposed to be water proof?
@vwgtiron2 жыл бұрын
@@charlesdu9941 There was a place where the water could infiltrate. Supposedly that's no longer a problem. YMMV.

I want to build a drop bar Surly ICT, this would be perfect. I’ll be able to keep the original derailleur and just buy hydraulic road bike brake levers. I’d really like to buy Di2 or Sram e-TAP but that’s nearly half the purchase price of the bike.

D1xtrail defenitly handles snow riding puddles, now, but now they have a video on how to improve sealing even more, as water might eventually go via the wire opening. Not happen to me yet I love this thing. Must have for me.

More info on the bat mod please. Also, somethings to wish for 1) tool free battery cover for shifter unit 2) more robust screws for battery cover on the remote
@rgmtb3 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but at this point this is really all the info I have. I was part of the test group and gave it a shot. I'm still using the setup today and it's working great. Is there something specific you would like to know? 1) AMEN! I carry a dime with me to unscrew the cover and it's kind of a bugger to remove. But that being said, I'll trade ease of removal for water proof. 2) My only concern with these screws is loosing them. The kit does come with a few extra, but they are still small. What might be nice is having those brass inserts in the plastic for the screws to screw into rather than plastic. The plastic might strip out over time. Good comments!

@@rgmtb I just ordered the official battery upgrade kit from Archer... I think it was $50 or something
@rickdeckard98103 жыл бұрын
How often do you need to charge the batteries, I was told on version 2 that there might be a way to tap into an ebike battery for the shifter so only the shifter would need a battery. Can't wait.
@rgmtb3 жыл бұрын
I heard rumor of that same thing as well. Not sure when plugging the shifter into the e-bike will come out. As for changing the batteries, I just have not kept track. It's not very often at all so I don't even remember. To be honest, here's what I do. Basically, when I know I'm not riding for a while I toss the batteries into the charger. Not sure if they needed it or not but just to be safe why not. The bike isn't being used anyway so I just do it. Plus, with the colder weather I like to make sure they are topped off. Basically, I simply have not had an issue with batteries going dead with this product.
@rickdeckard98103 жыл бұрын
@@rgmtb Ok thanks, ya I heard it from Devon that they were working on it and hopefully out this year but no date yet, not sure how it'll tap into the battery though the setup won't be as easy I'm sure.

Did you get the soft, or firm button? I've been having hand issues and a softer feel than a SRAM shifter would be nice! Is it more about the feedback you feel when clicking the button?
@rgmtb3 жыл бұрын
I'll be honest man, I'm really not sure. I got this unit a little while back and don't remember. The feel is much like two switches rather then levers. Little pressure is needed so it's pretty easy on the hands 👍

Not as long as you get the mod from them. Warranty still valid 👍

I have been running a DX1 Trail for a month on my Shimano Steps powered Box 9 speed and love it. I would not do the speed mod on it because too fast of shifting on an Ebike causes cassette failures as i found with using 3 crap[ Eagle GX 's.
@markybolton3 жыл бұрын

Here's the cool part. This shifter does not care about what cassette you are running. I just recorded a live stream on this install that I think will help you. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYSamoGPfLKsa9E Also, if you do want to buy one, use RGMTB when you check out and save :-)
@markybolton3 жыл бұрын
Just curious! What happened when you shifted too fast? Where you shifting while pedaling? Usually the motor cuts off while shifting so not to break the chain or ruin the motor? Never heard it destroying the cassette until now!

you missed to say, that that cable is WAY WAY shorter than it would be on a classic setup.. so when a cable stretches on a classic setup lets say 2mm, this short cable will only stretch maybe 0,2mm -- and that would not cause by far the same problems than you have with a long cable..

Why would you time the shifts? More precise and scientific! Then we woulf be able to compare the difference and maybe even compare the shift response against SRAM and Shimano!

Cables don't stretch, the cable housing shrink's and/ compresses
@rgmtb3 жыл бұрын

@That_Stealth_Guy3 жыл бұрын
Cable stretch certainly happens. I've seen it happen on multiple aircraft control systems. Granted the forces on a bicycle cables are different, but the science is the same.
