I have to say I tried D2 on my grandparents grave stone following these online video instructions. I worked for 3 hours on the stone and yes you could see some improvement, but not much. I was disappointed with the result so wet the stone with water again allowing time for the excess to drain off, then I sprayed all the stone with D2 and went home, many months passed before a family anniversary visit to the cemetery and I could not believe, my grandparents stone looked like it had been cleaned by a professional, all the green and stains had gone leaving an almost new looking white headstone. I sill have some D2 left and so will give the stone another light spray over come next summer. Looks like you give this solution time to work and you get wonderful results.

Are all headstone materials created equal? Is D2 Biological Solution safe for EVERY type of stone? Is D2 the recommended method for ANY type of problem attacking the stone? How do you tell the difference in stones? Would have liked to have seen a follow up to this in the 3-4 months after that he recommended.

Depending upon the size of the monument that you are going to be cleaning, 5-20 gallons of waters. Hopefully, you will be lucky and there is a water supply at the cemetery. But in case there is not, it is best to be prepared and just carry carry it with you.

. I did hear that sandblasting high power washers can ruin a headstone if they are made to last for internally and I would like to learn more and more about them because I have an awful lot of them I mean some from the 17 hundreds that was my family that I do need to get cleaned they got a lot of mold and algae but I have found that Ivory does take a lot of that all but I'm having trouble getting mold out of them

Washing liquid would be absorbed by the porous stone and it might destroy it. Use water and a very soft hand brush.

Also with the bronze memorial's, if you spray them with WD-40 it helps preserve them and makes them look like new

First of all, don't work on any grave that doesn't belong to you directly, unless you have permission from the cemetery owners 'in writing' or the family that owns the gravestone. Do not use anything but a soft brush on a stone. The stones can be porous or very soft, and using a hard bristle brush can ruin them. Always use water with the brush. I've seen stones that split from the wrong cleaning tools. D/2 is used by national cemeteries like Arlington, the Tomb of the Unknown soldier, and the White House. Wet and Forget has unknown chemicals in it, and is not recommended by gravestone preservationists.

I did hear that besides Ivory soap and renting we're all good that mineral water and mineral oil is the best thing to use on them if he can't get them clean then you have to order stuff to clean them but I did hear that there's stuff with the glass 7 can sometimes scratch them and ruin them oh so you do have to be very very careful when cleaning an old headstone expecially cement ones

I spent over three hours today using D2 to clean my grandparents headstone, having seen videos on here I had high hopes of a nice job. As per instructions I lightly sprayed the stone with water before spraying D2 onto the stone, I left it over an hour before starting in with a scrubbing brush and water, then more D2. Three hours later I was disappointed with the result to say the least considering how expensive this stuff is. I gave the stone time to dry off a bit before spraying the last of the D2 left in the bottle onto the stone, I am leaving this a week before returning to see if the stone will clean up any better. They don't actually tell you how much D2 they have used in these videos to bring the stones up like new........I won't be buying anymore of it that's for sure.

HOW DOES ONE GET THE PROPER PERMISSION FOR A MONUMNT MARKER? I CLEAN VETERAN MARKERS IN CEMETARYS, BY CONTACTING THE SEXTONS OF THE CEMETARIES. CLEANING NON-MILITARY STONES, WHAT KIND OF LIABILITY IS THERE ON ONESELF. I SURELY WOULD NOT WANT TO GET SUED FROM SOMEONE. A FAMILY MEMBER GIVES YOU PERMISSION & ANOTHER FAMILY MEMBER HATES WHAT YOU ARE DOING WITH A LOVED ONE MARKER. TRYING TO GET THE BEST ANSWERS FROM YOU. HOPE TO HEAR BACK FROM YOU ON THIS MATTER.

Sky Miller Pressure washing can be used on newer gravestones because those are typically granite. However older ones are limestone which a power washer can actually erode the stone away due to how soft it is.
