Bow amazons did not get any attention in D2, they were considered a weak build and not worth it. But it is probably my favorite character. Check this build out, perfect Faith on a +3 to bow skills base (insane runeword, fanaticism is insane), might mercenary with reaper's tool to boost physical damage, max out freezing arrow AND exploding arrow and add points into magic arrow as well (saves you A LOT of buying arrows + attack rating bonus) and you have a build that can deal with any immunity in the game. In every scenario you will be able to do decent damage in the worst case and a lot of damage in the normal case.

Bow Amazons in D2 were literally the meta for a long time until they got nerfed around 1.10 That's why no one played them after 1.10 because the nerf was catastrophic lol. It wasn't until D2R started fixing a lot of the bow issues that it started to bounce back

With the amazon i managed to beat the game on hell difficulty with the javazon build and i can't say that about the other classes the farrest i got with the other classes was nightmare difficulty so Amazon is the strongest and most powerfull class in the game at least for me.

I tried this with full Mavina's and it was pretty nice. Definitely great for crowds, less for bosses. I like the low skill investment, which lets you get Valk.

Full mavina's is pretty bad by comparison. The cold sunder along with the negative resistance massively improve the freezing arrow damage and take it to a whole new level. Ice Bow, or Wizendraw with -40% res is the way to go. Mavina's isn't it

I have one hardcore character on Bnet, and its a freezing arrow/exploding arrow amazon. The m'avina's set is super cheap, gives you max res, decent magic find, and you can farm anywhere in the game without any sunder charms very safely. I love the freezing arrow amazon.

Thoughts on running faceted Nightwings & Enigma instead of CoA & Arkaine? I know you said plague is good for the barb, but we can also run Cure/Insight/Fortitutde on the Might act 2 Merc, and it'd be a nice boss killer by himself.

Thoughts: If you do that you will have teleport, but resistances will be so bad you will die to any elemental attack that hits you. CoA was basically required to get resistances even into a passable state. Night wings has more +Cold Skill Damage but overall is a worse choice because it lacks -ECR (enemy Cold resistance) The problem with this build is that you have to hit a bare minimum -ECR or cold immune monsters are unkillable. So by sacrificing Arkaines and CoA You have lost -10% ECR and the DR and Resistances you need. In exchange you got actually lose killing power, and gain the ability to teleport. I don't think the ability to teleport will do you much good with 0% FCR and a character with no resistances or DR/Defense. You're likely gonna just die when teleporting. Explanation for why you lose killing power by changing to Nightwings. Negative Resistance is always more powerful than + Skill Damage while the monster is above 0% resistance to that element. At which point they become identical. Let me do the math for you. 4000 Damage shot vs Cold Immune Monster Broken To 95% Resistance. Scenario #1 Wizendraw +CoA+Arkaines Four Facets 4000+15%-40%=2760 Scenario #2 Wizendraw +Nightwings + enigma, 2 facets 4000+25%-50=2500 Scenario #3 Ice Bow + Arkaines + CoA 3 facets 4000+45%-60=2320 Scenario #4 Ice Bow + Nightwings + Enigma 1 Facet 4000+55%-70%=1860 Notice how no matter what you do less ECR always means less damage. And to get more skill damage you always have to sacrifice ECR. But Skill Damage is never worth the sacrifice. Even in the comparison between Ice and Wizendraw, Wizendraw always wins vs Cold immunes. Ice is only generally better vs non cold immunes that go below 0% resistance. Plauge on Merc gets you more -ECR which is important for kill speed. You can still setup a barb merc as a great boss killer with plague. Eth Headatriker upgraded with an Ohm or ber, Gface, and a Eth Boneflesh upgraded The ideal goal is to get away from insight if you can Because it holds the build back to rely on it. It's a crutch 🩼 Once I was able to free myself of the insight the build really started to shine.

Forgive me if I missed it, but what belt is recommended for this build? A point was made that this build does *not* run Razortail, but the belt shown was Goldwrap. I think I missed something, because I don't think she needs MF over Pierce.

I stacked points in pierce because I had plenty extra, so I didn't need razortail. You could always go razor tail and take the points out of pierce it's up to you. I believe I was using arachnids for the plus skills when not using gold wrap for mf

No, why would it? Exploding arrow uses Fire Damage Freezing arrow Uses Cold Damage They don't mix. Any Cold damage from any source adds to Freezing arrow, Charm, Skill(Holy Freeze), Item, ect Any Fire Damage from any source adds to Exploding arrow, Charm, Skill(Holy Fire, Enchant), Item Ect But they don't cross over because Fire is not cold and cold is not fire.

@@GGMentor ohh thanks for answer! enchant is a lil weird though that's why i asked. it doesnt display on a sin kicks but actually works. works on sin blades (3/4 of chant dmg). doesnt work on smite. displays on barb bezerk but doesnt work.

My Amazon is freezing/exploding with most points in cold abilities. I just took exploding arrow to deal with cold immunes, because sunders aren't available off ladder. I thought they said ladder stuff would make it's way off ladder once the next season releases, but they haven't done that in the prior 5 seasons.

yes, get a wizendraw early on, super easy and cheap to get. Drops all the time the biggest challenge is getting one with -35% colde resistance. Then just avoid the cold immunes/ use guided arrow to whittle them down. A good valkyrie goes a long way here as you can rely on your valk to tank for you while you slowly kill the cold immunes with guided arrow. Then when you get your cold sunder + Wizendraw you are already at -35% cold res and your set. add a perfect cold facet for -40% cold res, and eventually get two more in a helmet for -50% then a final one in an arkaines for -55% cold res and cold immunes aren't an issue anymore.

I have a strafezon that is struggling in act 4 and 5 hell. I have 2 wizendraws not upgraded. Might try a respec. Might try an act 5 merc for a change as well. Think i have the rune runes for either plague or cres moon.

Hate to comment on my own shit, but farming NM andy for a better wizendraw with 300 mf and found my first ever soj. On ps4 some notification came up but didnt realize till I id'd it. Found my first ber too a few days ago in lk chests

Dude for a single target boss kill, all you need is guided arrow, pierce, and crushing blow

As if I hadn't already tested this, it's a painfully slow kill and most of the bosses have like 50% block chance so even guided arrow misses all the time.

Cold Chilling and Cold Freezing effects are Directly effected by negative resistance which increases the duration. Likewise High Cold Resistance decreases the duration. A non Cold build Zon might have trouble getting the best effectiveness out of the CC without some sort of negative resistance.

Ppl still play tetris, ​super mario, and all different types of old games. Diablo 2 is still one of if not THE best ARPG game ever created.
